Watching Sports Night was fun. Watching Sports Night while playing hacky-sack? Even better.

So Conner was opting for "even better," needless to say. Hey, it made the commercial breaks pass really well.

"Oh, I've seen this before," Walter said, watching Conner's hacking skills. "Just usually outside."

"Dude, the beauty of hacky-sack is its portability," Conner said, not breaking from his current sequence as he glanced over his shoulder at Walter.

"Good for foot-eye coordination, I'd guess." He nodded to himself. "Maybe I'll have to get one."

"It's great practice for that," Conner agreed. He kicked the hacky-sack up into the air and snagged it, then tossed it to Walter. "Want to give it a try?"

Walter had a wee bit of practice (http://pics.livejournal.com/walter_n_wires/pic/00068kp0/s640x480) with foot-eye coordination and readily caught the foot bag on the top of his shoe before tapping it up into the air and kicking it from foot to foot and back to Conner.

Conner caught it on the side of his heel and bounced it up off his knee, then to the opposite elbow before letting it drop again so he could kick it back to Walter again. "Dude! You're a natural!"

No small amount of awe in his voice. Maybe a touch of jealousy? Highly probable as well. Silly athlete ego.

Walter leaned back to let the hackysack roll down his chest and bounce it off the top of his thigh and over to his heel for a tap toward Conner.

"It's a job requirement, I suppose."

Conner caught the pass neatly on the toe of his left foot and stood balanced on his right foot for a moment, then kicked the hacky-sack up again and mirrored what Walter had just done. "Better make sure soccer recruiters never see you, or you might have a job crisis on your hands."

"It wouldn't be a challenge," Walter said, bouncing the sack from knee to toe-tip and up to rest on his other knee.

"And I'm not much for team sports." He stood balanced as Conner had been before letting the sack roll down the front of his shin and onto the top of his foot for a fast pass to the other boy.

After a rather quiet day, Nadia was wandering about.

Last time she saw Conner playing hackysack, she'd had to have cold water dumped on her after a gigglefit.

She'd try not to do the same this time.

Conner nearly missed the pass, it was that fast, and that little twinge of jealousy got a little twingier. Yes, it's a word now, dammit. "That's too bad," he said, about 88.7% genuinely. "Lots of teams would kill for someone with your skills, but hey, it's not for everybody. I get that."

That last incident actually occurred to Conner as well, and he missed the next pass as he tried to bounce it off the inside of his knee. "Hey, Nadia!" he said, a bit red-faced as he had to scoop the hacky-sack off the floor and start over.

"How are you?" Nadia wandered in to sit down, watching Conner with a smile.

"Not enough violence," Walter said, not missing the twingieness from Conner and stashing that away in his capacious ego. "I'll stay with my chosen profession."

Walter finished up playing with Conner when Nadia came in. "Hey. Pippi's in a mirror."

"Hi. What?"

"Stupid Fandom thing. She fell right into a mirror in her room a little earlier."

Nadia kind of stared. "She's going to come back out, right?"

"In a pretty good groove. Or at least, I was." Conner started up a new routine and tried to make it extra-showy to compensate for his fumble a minute ago. "I love having a three-day weekend. How 'bout you?"

"I had a class this morning. I have one every day. I guess I didn't manage my classes very well."

Walter shrugged. Stupid Fandom things. "I certainly hope so. Pip has the mirror now. I could see her inside it. She didn't look pained or endangered. I thought I'd talk to Aziraphale or the Magic teacher tomorrow, since this is Fandom and she might pop back out overnight. In Pip's room, if she does."

"Handing out red cards'll do that," Conner said, looking at Walter a little bit askance over that comment about violence. "The skills are useful other ways too, anyway."

"Well, at least that won't be as bad as randomly appearing in the boys bathroom with cheesey poofs in your mouth."

"Just one every day?" asked Conner. "Better than having all of them the same day. Maybe. Actually, that might not be so bad . . ."

"Well, I have two on Friday, but that's because I'm taking the prophesy lab."
