Fourth Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

In need of distraction, Isabel wandered out to the common and flipped on the TV, smiling when she saw that The Amazing Race was on. A cute Kiwi was the perfect distraction from her worries. She found a bag of chips in the cabinet, poured them into a bowl for sharing and settled down on the couch to watch the show.

"Well, if you were feeling the same way as me, then the concert wouldn't have been a good idea," Teddy offered. "It kinda made me more depressed."

Anders winced. "I guess I'm glad I missed it then, but I'm going to have to apologize to Parker big-time. Anything serious depressing you, or was it stupid stuff like it was for me?"

"I was just think about," Teddy started to say. How quickly a body can burn? That would get him sent to a counselor, which was the last thing he needed.

"Home, I was thinking about home."

Fortunately what Teddy opted for saying in the end was not nearly as alarming, so Anders took it totally in stride. "Yeah, that's grounds for being depressed. Way more than baseball, anyway. Miss it?" he asked, curious. "Home, I mean?"

"I miss my friends," Teddy said with a sigh. "My boyfriend mostly."

He said the last part almost too softly to hear, "My mom."

Anders nodded. "I get that," he said a bit awkwardly. He'd never been good at this kind of pep talk, and he felt a bit guilty for not missing his family as much as he probably should. "A friend of mine who's from the same planet as me, she used to go here, but ended up going back home . . . I miss her a lot, even though we never met before we got here. And for all I know she's really thirty years younger than me, or something. Anything I can do to help?"

"Not unless you have access to a time machine of some sort and can magically undo any temporal problems that would occur after," Teddy said, half joking.

Teddy smiled at Anders' attempt at cheering him up. "Thanks for offering though."

"If I wasn't lousy with machines and had no magic powers to speak of? I totally would," Anders said, also half joking. "Wish I could help you out there, man."

Teddy waved his hands dismissively and managed a real smile. "I'll be fine. And besides, you've already managed to cheer me up by offering."

Pooooorn muuusiiiiic

"Well, good." The smile was a good sign, and got one out of Anders in response. "I've accomplished something this weekend, then."

*boom chicka-whatever!*

Teddy raised his hand for a high-five. "And a very excellent job you did."

Anders obligingly high-fived Teddy. "Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all semester. I give repeat performances if you ask nicely, too."

[OOC: Works for me. I'm about to pass out myself.]
