Fifth floor common room, Monday after 1st period

Having spent pretty much the entire day yesterday hiding in her bed, Nadia decided to do something interesting today. Not cooking, she did that all the time, but something that was new and different, even for Fandom.

Which is why she's spread out an enormous piece of paper in the corner of the room (away from the television and the kitchen, so she wasn't completely taking over), lined the edges with buckets of paint, rolled up her pants to just below her knees and was currently very slowly and very carefully dancing on the paper with paint covered feet.

She's humming to herself, and the paper is most certainly large enough for dance partners.

"Spies are viruses?"

"No! Why are you stuck on talking about viruses?"

"It was the best analogy I could think of!" Cally said. "Would you prefer I'd talk about plaque?!"

"Um, not particularly. I think you should come and dance with me."

Cally thought for a second, then started pulling off her shoes and socks.

"Crazy loves company, after all."

"Crazy like a fox." Nadia held out her hand. "Careful, it's really slippery."

Cally took Nadia's hand and stepped onto the paper.

"So, who's gonna lead?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia shrugged. "This isn't formal dancing. No one needs to lead. We can hold hands to keep our balance."

"Shucks," Cally said. "Was hopin' to get some practice in."

"That would probably work better if you don't have paint on your feet."

"So... you volunteering to help me learn how to dance with a girl before Homecoming?"

"I imagine it's just like dancing with a guy, really."

"Yeah, but what if Mac expects me to lead? What if she wants me to lead? What if I don't know if I can lead or not? I don't wanna screw this up for her," Cally said.

". . . Have you asked her? Most of these dances at the school seem to involve the type of dancing where no one leads. People just kind of stand and sway in the slow dances."

Cally flailed on principle.

"I don't know!"

Nadia laughed slightly. "Cally, calm down. It'll be fine, I promise."

"But what if it isn't okay?" Cally said. "What if I screw up and make her cry and then they dump pig's blood on me and then and then..."

"Pig's blood? Okay, Fandom's weird, but not like that."

"I saw it in a movie," Cally said. "They elected a girl Homecoming Queen and then they covered her in blood and then she killed them all with her brain."

". . . I think maybe you shouldn't watch that kind of movie. Do you really think we would cover you in blood?"

Cally paused and thought for a minute.

"No."

[nadiathesaint]

"See? You'll be fine!"

"That doesn't solve the 'what if I screw up the dancing thing' part, though," Cally said.
