Bel was sprawled on the couch, remote in hand, flipping through the channels in search of something relaxing to watch. Maybe that would help settle his mood.

The Discovery channel documentary on hunting habits of wild animals was right out.

"I've been the other way around," Walter said, measuring out some loose tea from the tin. "Restless. I've been out walking a lot. Today I talked to a huge cobra."

Tyler considered this for a moment. "Did it talk back? Because that's when you worry."

Walter laughed and opened the refrigerator to rummage around. "In fact, it did. We're covering the language of snakes in Creature Languages class."

"I think I heard something about that class," Tyler said. "Sounds interesting. Anyone get bit?" From his tone, it wasn't clear what he hoped the answer would be.

"I'm the TA for that class. I've found it to be a very practical class." He made a little sound of triumph and pulled out a pack of lunchmeat and some cheese. "No one was bitten. The snake was rather friendly with the teacher."

"What kind of friendly?," Tyler asked. "Because that is an itneresting skill in a teacher."

Walter shrugged while he started building a very large sandwich. "Friends friendly. They were talking about getting together for her birthday the next time it falls on a full moon."

"Huh," Tyler said, mildly surprised. "I guess weirder stuff happens here all the time."

"My girlfriend turned into a gremlin and bit me, making me think I was my employer," Walter said, mostly to the refrigerator while he pulled out mayonnaise and cheese. "So yes, weirder stuff does happen."
