For Friday the thirteenth, Zero had decided to have an impromptu scary movie marathon. She set up an array of snacks, including popcorn, pizza, soda, and candy, and stacked her DVD offerings on the coffee table.

Zero decided to start with that perennial classic, A Bunch of Losers Arguing Over Who Gets To Be Zero. It was her favorite.

Angela roamed into the common room in search of food. "Oooh. Movie," she said, grabbing a bag of cookies from the cabinet. "What are you watching?"

"A Bunch of Losers Arguing Over Who Gets To Be Zero," Zero said. "S'my favorite."

"Of course, with that title," Angela said. "Though the idea of another Zero is kind of scary."

"Have you not seen it? S'a classic."

"Somehow I missed it," Angela said, with a shrug. "What's it about?"

"Buncha losers arguin' over who gets t'be zero. And then they get eaten."

"Hey Zero," Bridge grabs a slice of pizza. "What's playing?"

"Hey, Bridge. Right now, it's A Bunch of Losers Arguing Over Who Gets To Be Zero. Don' know what we'll watch next." She gestured to the stack of DVDs.

"Why are they arguing about who gets to be you? Is this some weird new reality show or something?" Bridge asks, confused.

"Hee, no, they're not arguin' over who gets to be me. They're arguin' over who gets to be zero. See, the guy who's zero doesn't get eaten, but everyone else gets eaten in numerical order."

"Ooh," Bridge nods in understanding. "Small-z zero, not capital-Z Zero, got it."

"Right. Like how 'London Bridge' isn't about you goin' to England."

Parker wanders in a bit later, having made more new T-shirts until her eyes crossed. "Hey. This looks totally unfamiliar. Ewwwww." She blinked at the screen.

"It's A Bunch of Losers Arguing Over Who Gets To Be Zero," Zero explained. "S'almost over, though."

"Dorks," Angela agreed. "So did you guys have a good time at Homecoming?"

[swerval_zero]

"I wore a poodle skirt," Zero said. Her tone should be enough to suggest that this is a horrific fate.

"Hey Parker," Angela said. "It's not bad."

"Okaa- whoa is that the thing that's gonna eat them? Gah," Bridge makes a face.

"Yeah. S'kinda gross, innit?" Zero sounded delighted.

"Zero? Not you, I'm guessing, but that seems a little existentialist." She stares, fascinated. "And, yeah. There's only those two left, so I'm thinking-- whoops."

"That one that's left is zero. He gets to live."

"Yeah?" She waved, took a perch on the back of the couch. "Not usually a horror flick fan. How's your week been?"

"Yay for him?" Parker blinked, shaking her head. "What's up after the countdown-that-isn't? And how's your week been going?"

"Well, I was thinkin' either Bastard Fish or Death In A Fence. What d'you think? S'been all right, y'know." Luckily, Zero hadn't checked her voicemail recently.

"I wore about 18 crinolines," Angela offered. "Though I kind of liked the tiara part."
