Fifth floor common room, Tuesday evening

After the buzz of yesterday, Nadia was feeling a bit gloomy again. She'd managed to get herself some soup without too much "I can only use one arm!" trauma, and that, combined with some hot chocolate, was working wonders for her ability to pretend it wasn't effin' freezing outside.

Her shoulder was aching again, though, and as she sat on the couch with the TV on quietly in the background, she went over what she could remember of the troll battle, trying to figure out where things had gone square shaped.

"Hi all," Alphonse said upon entering the common room.

"Hey, Al! I need to talk to you." Walter grinned up at his roommate.

Alphonse gave Walter a suspicious look once he caught the grin. "So said the note and Pippi."

"Come sit next to me and away from eavesdropping squirrels and shrubs," Walter said, patting the couch cushion next to him.

Alphonse did just that with a heavy plop on the couch. "Am I right in assuming you're up to something?"

"You've lived with me for almost a year. Of course I'm up to something. And I need your help."

"With?" he asked, crossing his arms against his chest.

Walter leaned closer and dropped his voice. "Just a little gift for the student body. Tell me, do you think you could change the odor of water if we supplied you with whatever raw materials you would needs?"

"... I can't imagine you're planning anything smelling pleasant," Alphonse sighed, then frowned. "To answer your question, yes, but it doesn't take an alchemist to do that, too."

He wasn't going to point out it probably wouldn't be as easy, though.

"What's wrong with the scent of chocolate and salami? Not all together." Well, not unless you wanted to actually have a shower that wasn't scalding hot or freezing cold....

"Hi Al!"

"Hey Pippi! Doing well? Especially after this weekend."

"Itchy but well." Pippi said, "And you?"

"Fairly well, myself. I'm looking forward to a much, much less eventful week, though."

"Here's hoping! Nadia and I were thinking we should have a party. As something fun that doesn't suck."

"I think that's a very good idea," Alphonse agreed. "After the weekend? It could be used."

"Yeah! We're going to have it catered?"

"Hi, Al. How was your troll filled weekend?"

"Loads of fun," he answered, his tone implying quite the opposite.

"They didn't play troll frisbee with you, too, did they?"

"Thankfully I came out mostly unharmed," Alphonse replied. "They certainly were stubborn, that's for sure."

"Yeah. They really were. Were you fighting, or did you get grabbed?"

"I was on the grounds Saturday night. I think that had to be more chaotic than the snow monsters."

"I didn't get to see much of it ~~even though I flew over it~~. I was a little . . . um." She shook her head. "Distracted."

"But your arm is still injured," Alphonse began, making a small gesture toward it. "It wouldn't have been a good idea to run into that with a bad arm."
