[The Roof, Wednesday Evening]

There was a break in the clouds in the evening so says my weather search, so Alec headed up to the roof. Despite the humidity, it was nice to be where he could see the town and the ocean beyond.

First sign of rain though and he'd be back inside before you could blink.

Other than Criminal Justice class yesterday -- and they had both been busy reviewing and so hadn't spoken -- Dean hadn't seen Alec since he'd left The Place Sunday evening.

He'd figured Alec had needed some space after being practically immobile for a week so he hadn't gone looking for him until now.

When he found him on the roof, he grinned and said, "Haven't seen you up here in a while."

"Yeah," Alec said with a smirk, shoving his hands further into his pockets. "Saw it wasn't raining, so I grabbed the opportunity."

"You'd think it would be colder too, considering it's December," Dean said. "How's the ribs doing?"

"Just fine," Alec said, pulling one hand out to place a palm against his own ribs, testing. "Feels pretty good, actually."

"That's good to hear," Dean said, moving closer and laying a hand over Alec's.

Alec blinked, spreading his fingers under Dean's just a little. "No kidding," he said, smirking faintly. "I like not hurting when I breathe."

"Yeah, being cooped up like that last week must've been driving you stir crazy," Dean observed, leaving his hand where it was.

Dean kissed him back then grinned a little mischieviously. "Not to mention getting lucky."

"That too," Alec said, grinning back fondly.

"Feel like coming back to The Place and getting lucky now?"

There was a flash of something like annoyance in his eyes and Alec shrugged, corners of his mouth tugged into a faint smirk. "Maybe later."

Dean frowned. "Okay, what gives?"

Alec shrugged again, nonchalant. "Nothing, man. Just not in the mood."

That was something. Dean was surprised at how relieved he was to hear that. "Good," he said softly.

Alec glanced at him, just as surprised to hear Dean's tone. "Don't worry, seriously," Alec said, frowning again.

Dean nodded, accepting that. "So what's wrong with my room all of a sudden then? I mean, nothing's changed except..." Dean suddenly felt very stupid. "Hunter."

Alec didn't reply, which was probably all the answer Dean needed on that.

"So what's the problem with Hunter that's so bad you won't drop by anymore?"

"It bugs me," Alec said, trying to sound not nearly as immature as the statement seemed.

"So, then." He nudged Alec's shoulder again. "Guess that means Hunter's not any kind of replacement for you or anything then."

"Guess not," Alec agreed, though he didn't seem wholly convinced.

"What do you need to make you believe it?" Dean asked.

"Dunno," Alec said, taking the question seriously. "I'll have to think about it."

"Okay," Dean said. "Let me know." He paused. "But in the meantime, don't avoid me, 'kay?"

"Okay." Alec nodded, giving his double a faint smile. "No avoiding."
