Fifth floor common room - Saturday afternoon

Molly had once again taken over the kitchen for cookie baking. This time it was for Christmas presents for her friends so she was only making a couple different kinds. Unlike the many varieties she'd made for the Thanksgiving dinner.

First on the list was a separate bowl of cookie dough just for her and Dawn to eat.

[[OOC: Post is open. Anybody who comes by will get Christmas cookies, but I may be slow to ping as I am seriously multi-tasking today. Please do stop by though. :D]]

"No, these are Molly's cookies, plus they're for other people, so no experimentation," Dawn shook her head. "And yup. What about you?"

"Ah. And I leave tomorrow for home." Evie hugged herself, looking happy. "It's been too long. I shan't be back until after New Year's. London and Mum's baking and parties in Oxford. It shall be lovely to see them again."

"That sounds nice," Dawn said, maybe the tiniest bit wistfully.

Evie hugged herself again. "I shall miss this place, though. I can't believe how attached I've gotten, over one semester. I don't know how to explain it all to them, without lying too much." She perched her chin on one hand. "Does your family understand about what goes on here?"

Dawn snickered. "Yeah, they're actually starting to think of it as a nice vacation spot, if they ever need time off."

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2006-12-24 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really? Oh, my. What is your home like, that they find this relaxing?" Evie's eyes were wide with wonder.

"Kinda like Troll Weekend, but all the time," Dawn almost explained. "And I'm usually the one who gets kidnapped."

"My most sincere sympathies. That was not fun at all. It was boring and uncomfortable and cold, and it would have been even more terrifying if Jack hadn't been there. And the others too." Evie made a face. "Why do they stay there, then? I don't think I could take being kidnapped very often with any equanimity."

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2006-12-24 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, they didn't stay there anymore, but Dawn wasn't bringing down yet another person. "There's stuff that only they can take care of, so they stay."

"Responsibilities. It sounds overwhelming. Although I suppose everything else looks easy in comparison?" Evie had had no frame of reference before the troll invasion, in spite of what everyone had told her about the Island. "ARe there mummies there? And vampires?"

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2006-12-24 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Vampires, yes. Mummies, not so much." Dawn had missed most of the Ampata stuff purely because she'd been too little to stay up late and eavesdrop.

Evie shook her head. "I should be terrified every day, if I lived there. Although I suppose one gets used to anything. At least here there are some rather formidable forces present. Everyone fought the trolls so well. Door was a heroine!" she added proudly.

"Really? What happened?" Dawn asked eagerly, happy for her little sister.

"She rang the bell that drove the trolls away! She and Dr. Covington had to fight past all these trolls, with help from some other people, and then she rang the bell throwing a gun at it." Evie looked deeply pleased. "I wish I could have done that." She checked the time. "If I don't see you before I leave tomorrow, Merry Christmas, Dawn. And Happy New Year!"

"You too, Evie."
