Fifth floor common room, Thursday around noon

Vacation was all well and good, but Nadia was starting to get bored. So she was out in the common room, listening to the CDs she'd gotten yesterday, with her laptop. One window on it had notes for the "Evil flying pink pony awareness party", the other had her somewhat neglected epic adventure story.

Yes, Elena and Marco were currently being attacked by evil, flying pink ponies. And a new friend, Tad, had appeared in the narrative. He was a very tall Filipino with a penchant for flirting with . . . well, just about anyone, but especially Jean, the skateboarding star from Quebec.

"It's not just a theme, it's self-defense. It's pink pony preparedness!"

Apparently once you got onto an alliterative roll it was hard to stop.

Nadia's vocabulary had given out, unfortunately, when it came to continued alliteration. "Right! Protection! With black creme pies and black crepe paper for tying the ponies up with and black, um, weights to keep them from flying away."

"They'll be the weirdest gift bags ever," Anders grinned. "And black water balloons . . . hey, I wonder if you can get black Silly String?"

"If not, we could possibly get Al to make it black,"

"And you're good at talking him into things." If 'talking into' was the right way to put it. "That could work."

"It's mostly a matter of not taking no for an answer. I'll try to remember to ask him about it tonight."

Anders probably should have felt a little sorry for Al. But he was far too amused by the mental images. "Right. Pies, crepe paper, weights, Silly String, water balloons. Anything else we want? Little black party hats?"

"That might be too much, don't you think?"

"Overkill? I was sort of going with a 'better safe than sorry' idea, but yeah, that might be a little bit much."

"We won't defeat the ponies by looking silly, after all."

"Good point. We'd be falling right into their trap."

"Exactly!"

"And that would totally defeat the purpose of the party, so we definitely can't have that."

"I agree completely. I think we're just about ready."

"Except for figuring out a date. We should do that, and then I can start getting the decorations and things together."

"Well, we definitely want to wait until the new kids show up."

"Of course! We've gotta freak them out. I mean, make sure they're warned. Yeah."

"And that's exactly the point. Still, it might be nice to think up something to do before they show, since it's really boring."

"Think we should have a theme, or just a 'we're bored, let's party' party?"
