Fifth floor common room, Thursday around noon

Vacation was all well and good, but Nadia was starting to get bored. So she was out in the common room, listening to the CDs she'd gotten yesterday, with her laptop. One window on it had notes for the "Evil flying pink pony awareness party", the other had her somewhat neglected epic adventure story.

Yes, Elena and Marco were currently being attacked by evil, flying pink ponies. And a new friend, Tad, had appeared in the narrative. He was a very tall Filipino with a penchant for flirting with . . . well, just about anyone, but especially Jean, the skateboarding star from Quebec.

Pippi had stopped by Pip's room to do some... Nursing.

You know, heating up some soup, making sure he had tissues, that kind of stuff.

No, really.

"Morning Nadia!"

"Hey, Pippi. Is Pip feeling any better?"

"Mostly he's just sleepy." Pippi explained. "He's been taking this stuff."

She said holding up an empty NyQuil bottle and looking at the lable.

"Big N, little Y, big frakkin Q. I think they should replace 'may make you drowsy' with 'may put you in a coma'."

"Hey. How's Pip doing?" Not that he was incredibly bored and wanted their friend to feel better so they could go on their planned boat trip or anything.

"Dosing himself with this stuff." Pippi said holding up an empty bottle of NyQuil. "I think he's trying to sleep through it."

After talking with Cally in her room, stopping in to see Nadia was a logical next step. He leaned over the couch and gave the laptop a curious glance.

"It is very boring here during vacation."

"I've been noticing that, too." Nadia pointed to the top window. "But Anders and I are talking about having an evil pink pony awareness party when the new kids get here." She tilted her head back to get a better look at him. "What have you been up to?"

Walter frowned a little. "I... was a pink pony...." But then again, Nadia had been a gremlin for a day. At least he hadn't bitten anyone.

Moving right along. "Reading. Trying to get everything properly lined up to repair Pip's M-16. I think I understand the fundamentals enough to give it a go now."

Anders was totally unaware -- so far -- of any embarrassment awaiting him as he gingerly picked his way up to the fifth floor and flopped into a chair. "We need a catchy slogan for the party."

"Pippi!" Anders waved at her tiredly. "How's it going, Team Red?"

Walter looked up and grinned, "How about 'I did not sleep with that woman'?"

Hey, he'd been studying future history as a matter of self-defense and spending almost all of the year in 2006 had made the reference unavoidable. h

Anders tilted his head to one side and peered sideways at Walter. "What does that have to do with evil flying pink ponies? 'cause . . . oh, ew."

"Duuuuuuudes," Jude drawled as he limped into the common room without crutches and using his non-walking cast as a walking cast. "Look. I can totally walk again. Ish."

"Go walking! Unless it lands you in further injury. How's it going, Jude?"

Alec flopped down on a couch with a sigh. "Is it really boring here, or is that just me?"

"It's not just you." Nadia glanced up, frowning for a moment. "I'm sorry, I'm going to sound like an idiot, but are you Dean or Alec? It's been a long time since I've really talked to either of you, and you look a lot alike."

After dropping off his survey at Cally's room, Dean wandered down to the common room, hearing music from inside.

"Hey people," he said as he came in. He had the camera Sammy gave him slung over his shoulder -- having planned to go find stuff to take pictures of to test it out.
