Okay, so it wasn't the best planned or fanciest party in the world. There weren't any streamers or banners, just a few hand-scrawled signs on printer paper reading "We're Bored, So Let's Party!" There wasn't even a theme really, but that sort of was the theme, as he and Nadia had concluded yesterday. Besides, Anders was tired and not exactly up to his usual standard of movement. Plus, they were saving all the decorations and planning for the real party, after all the new kids arrived. Oh yes. ~~Mwahahaha.~~

Small tables of snacks, food, and drinks (and of course the ubiquitous supply of cupcakes, since this was after all Anders) had been laid out on all the landings between the first and fifth floors, and the common rooms had been raided for chairs and seat cushions to form makeshift seating areas in the hallways near the stairwells.

Hey, an impromptu party was better than boredom, right?

Anders eyed the contribution dubiously but gave her a thumbs-up. "I knew we were missing something!"

"I'm always willing to provide a little spice." Nadia smiled. "But it's always optional, too."

"Hey, spice is the opposite of boredom, or something, right?" Anders replied. He considered for a moment, and decided to try some of it as salad dressing.

. . . well, it definitely wasn't boring.

A bottle of water later he added, "So. How was your morning?"

"Ugh," replied Nadia eloquently. "A party is just what I need."

Anders grimaced in sympathy. "That bad, huh? Good thing we decided to do this yesterday, then."

"Definitely. People, noise, food, distractions. All good things."

"Sliding down the banisters looks like good therapy too," Anders agreed. "This was the best idea ever that doesn't involve fending off evil pink ponies."

"If only we could have somehow combined the two concepts. We'd have the perfect party."

"Guess that means we have to work on our powers of telling the future a little more, huh? I'll settle for the fact that the pink pony party is coming up pretty soon too. Maybe we can work in some banister-sliding there, too."

"That could be considered an effective escape from a flying pony, as the size of the stairwell would make it difficult for the pony to take off."

"Plus it gives you a head start, so you're ready for it with a bucket of black paint when it gets to the bottom. Hey . . . maybe there should be buckets of black paint in glass-covered cabinets next to the fire extinguishers or something."

"You should suggest that to Ms. Washburn."

"A formal written proposal might be more impressive." Hey, he hadn't slept his way through all of Interstellar Relations. "Maybe we can get a petition going at the pink pony party."

"Good plan. We should see if Blair can help us with some good petition words."

"Yep. Gotta know how to use your sources, and he would be the expert at that."

"Exactly."
