Okay, so it wasn't the best planned or fanciest party in the world. There weren't any streamers or banners, just a few hand-scrawled signs on printer paper reading "We're Bored, So Let's Party!" There wasn't even a theme really, but that sort of was the theme, as he and Nadia had concluded yesterday. Besides, Anders was tired and not exactly up to his usual standard of movement. Plus, they were saving all the decorations and planning for the real party, after all the new kids arrived. Oh yes. ~~Mwahahaha.~~

Small tables of snacks, food, and drinks (and of course the ubiquitous supply of cupcakes, since this was after all Anders) had been laid out on all the landings between the first and fifth floors, and the common rooms had been raided for chairs and seat cushions to form makeshift seating areas in the hallways near the stairwells.

Hey, an impromptu party was better than boredom, right?

"Come on, dude," Anders encourages him. "You can tell me."

"See, that's the thing," Bridge says, eyes downcast. "Nobody's telling *me* anything,"

Okay, now that made Anders kind of feel bad, because he's keeping things from Bridge too. But then, he doesn't think for a second that Bel would be joking about killing him if he said anything.

"Why the hell not?" he asks, looking aggrieved -- and feeling aggrieved for totally different reasons. "Do I have to go beat somebody up for you?"

"I don't know," Bridge says, in answer to both of those questions. "I kind of hate it."

And that kind of makes Anders hate himself, at least for a little while. "Yeah, I know," he says quietly. "Maybe . . . I don't know, maybe people are just doing really stupid things right now -- like that stupid frakking survey of my ex's," he adds with a heated glare in the general direction of the fifth floor. It's a distraction, mostly, the mention of the survey.

But he's telling the truth more when he adds, "And maybe that's making them feel like . . . if people, really awesome, good people like you, know about it, they'll think less of them, so they don't want people to know. 'cause they're ashamed."

"I wouldn't, you know," Bridge says quietly. "It's just... I try so hard *not* to snoop when it'd be so easy for me to, so it sucks when people still don't trust me."

"Dude," Anders says after a moment, "it has nothing to do with people not trusting you. It's 'cause w -- they do trust you that they care so much about what you think of them."

He sighs. "Not helping, am I?"

Bridge raises an eyebrow at the slip. "I can't think of anything that'd make me think less of them," he says seriously.

Anders pauses. "Yeah?" he asks hopefully. "Honest?"

"Honest."

"Even if they did something really, really insane?"

"Even then," Bridge says. Everyone does insane things every once and a while, after all. He doesn't expect anyone to be perfect.
