Okay, so it wasn't the best planned or fanciest party in the world. There weren't any streamers or banners, just a few hand-scrawled signs on printer paper reading "We're Bored, So Let's Party!" There wasn't even a theme really, but that sort of was the theme, as he and Nadia had concluded yesterday. Besides, Anders was tired and not exactly up to his usual standard of movement. Plus, they were saving all the decorations and planning for the real party, after all the new kids arrived. Oh yes. ~~Mwahahaha.~~

Small tables of snacks, food, and drinks (and of course the ubiquitous supply of cupcakes, since this was after all Anders) had been laid out on all the landings between the first and fifth floors, and the common rooms had been raided for chairs and seat cushions to form makeshift seating areas in the hallways near the stairwells.

Hey, an impromptu party was better than boredom, right?

Nadia stuck her tongue out at Z.

Two could play at that game. Z stuck her tongue out at Nadia.

Nadia added a wrinkled nose to her repetoire.

Z scrunched up her eyes, too.

Oh, that was it. It was ON. Nadia crossed her eyes.

Z sighed. "I got nothin'. Unless I pull on my ears. I yield."

"I win!" Nadia cheered. "What were we arguing about?"

"I was hoping you remembered," Z admitted. "Did it have to do with ice cream?"

"Oh! And hot sauce!" Most of Nadia's arguments involved hot sauce, though, so that wasn't necessarily something she remembered about this one.

Z looked doubtful. "Are you sure?"

"Um, no."

"Neither am I. But it seems unlikely we were arguing over hot sauce and ice cream." Even though they actually had been.

"Yeah, that would seem like a pretty obvious thing."

"You would think so."

"Well, duh, hot sauce plus ice cream equals yummy."

"No, it doesn't!"

"Yes it does!"

"YES, it does!"

"NO, it d--" Z stopped mid-sentence and frowned. "Maybe we were arguing over ice cream and hot sauce."

"I'm thinking that's a possibility. And I'm making myself really hungry."

"There's food on the landing," Z pointed out helpfully.

"But not ice cream."

"Which is a problem," Z said. "I don't know where there's ice cream. I could get some from the synthetron, but the only kind I know the codes for is avocado-bacon. Apparently it's very popular on KO-35."

Nadia made a face. "Okay, THAT is gross."
