After making a series of phone calls to Marie, Phoebe, Bel, Blair, Jarod, Lavender, and Jack, she settled down on the couch to read and think about things.
Lana giggled. "I know. It's sappy, but it's true. And not just 'cause we're dating. I've so dreaded going back to Smallville and having someone else with me... It just made me feel so much better. Like I wouldn't lose who I am, just because I'm not the way folks back home want me to be."
Lana bit her lip and nodded. "Yeah, I heard. I spent part of the afternoon with Mr. Aziraphale. I'm planning on going over to the clinic later myself."
She went over to Marie. "Are you okay? Do you want me to go with you?"
She looked down and realized she had a small gift bag (http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/P1019184.jpg) in her hand. "Oh, here, this is for you."
"It's beautiful," Lana exclaimed. "Thank you so much!" She turned and pulled out a bag with three (http://www.finalegloves.com/206.html) small (http://www.finalegloves.com/177.html) packages (http://www.finalegloves.com/178.html) in it. "I couldn't resist the black velvet and the red silk," she said. "I wanted you to have some pretty ones to wear."
"Oh, I don't expect anything," Lana said hurriedly, not wanting him to feel like he had to reciprocate. "I just... you've been a good friend so..." she waved a hand aimlessly. "Anyway, enjoy. I hope you like it."
"I'm sure I will," Bel said, eyeing the package and covering his disdain. He had little use for such things. "So, what's new with you?" he said conversationally.
Lana's face sobered. "I spent a good part of the afternoon with Mr. Aziraphale. Dr. Wilson was attacked and he's in a coma. Mr. Phale's having a tough time. He'd probably appreciate a visit from you."
