First Floor Garage, Wednesday, All Day

Sam couldn't sleep anymore, even though she probably should have after her week at the Time Agency and in Cardiff. Her new little brother Peter seemed like a perfectly nice kid, which was reassuring.

Which didn't mean she felt the need to be social today. She turned on the CD player, ate a couple of chocolate covered espresso beans, and stacked some food on her work bench, which she'd hopefully remember to eat. Then she went to work on the Swoop Bike. It probably needed babying tuning--she hadn't ridden it or worked on it in almost a month.

[ooc: Post is open to all.]

Why was the Doctor wandering the first floor of the dorms?

He'd explain later.

"Hello Miss Carter," he said.

"Going quite well," the Doctor said. "Rather a large influx of new people to the island yesterday, wouldn't you say?"

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The Doctor paused.

"Yes, I can see how that might be very tiring."

"...You're going to join the Time Agency?" the Doctor looked genuinely impressed and surprised.

"Sort of, yeah," the Doctor said. "Not really well, mind you. But they don't seem like too bad a sort, via reputation."

Anders came down to the garage shortly before noon to polish his glider before taking it out for a ride. "Mornin', Carter."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Quiet, but good." Anders took a rag to a water spot he only thought he saw, frowning. "I didn't see you around. Have fun?"

Anders chuckled and paused in his polishing efforts. "Just another holiday adventure in the life of Sam Carter, huh? You were probably way more productive than I was."

Understatement of the century, that.

"Sleep's good when you can get it." Anders punctuated that statement, however unintentionally, with a yawn. "Haven't been sleeping so well myself, lately. Though since it's time for our semi-annual invasion of new kids, you might want to consider taking over an empty cabin or something if you really want to get some sleep before classes start."

Anders gave her a mildly surprised look. "You sure?"

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Attacked by any good books lately?" the Doctor asked.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not since finals week," Anders said with a shrug. "That might've put me off reading for a while. At least until the last of the papercuts heal."

Which they so totally already had. But he wasn't about to admit to a teacher that he'd abandoned reading in favor of playing computer games the minute his last final was over.

The Doctor scrutinized Anders for a moment.

"And the average papercut heals within a day."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"They were . . . really aggressive papercuts?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Flying books," Anders reminded him with a nod. "They don't usually do that."

Beat.

"Do they?"

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends who made them," the Doctor said.
