Turtle felt as though her day had been very successful. She'd scoped out the town, gotten herself a job (starting tomorrow! How exciting!), and had picked up a total of two dollars and seventy two cents in change as she walked around the island. A very good day, indeed, especially since, she could tell from her handwavily grabbed copy of the Wall Street Journal that SEA hadn't continued to drop, and the one she was scoping had raised, but not enough that it wouldn't be enough for her SEA to fail to cover it in a few days. Looking pretty good!

Grabbing a bowl of cereal for her dinner, Turtle plopped out the couch, tucked her Journal beside her, and turned on the television. Now that she didn't have her mother restricting her TV time, she definately wanted to see what kind of channels they got here at the school.

"I don't see how being named after a slow moving animal is any less idiotic." Hikaru frowned.

"Who said I was named after one? Turtle's just a nickname. And not because I'm slow, but because my older sister had an overactive imagination."

"I tried to imply that in the first place." Hikaru sighed and leaned back against the couch, finally catching a glimpse of her long braid.

"It's certainly unusual..." Kaoru quirked an eyebrow.

"That's why I like it! How many girls can you honestly say you've met named Turtle?" she challenged them.

"None, quite honestly." They responded.

"Unless you count the lame puns on the Japanese words Kame and Kami..which are pretty outdated by now.."

"Is that where you guys are from? Japan?" Turtle's head tilted, and she scratched the nape of her neck a little, fixing her braid so that it rested over her shoulder. That would kind of explain the names. She still thought they were kind of stupid. Well, Hikaru was a cool name. Kaoru she thought was weird. It sounded girly to her.

"Yea. Tokyo. You?" Hikaru glanced at the braid again. It reminded him of Ranma's...only much more impressive.

"No where as cool as Tokyo!" Turtle said. "I'm from Wisconsin."

They nodded. Niether of them were terribly good at geography, and they hadn't traveled much in the U.S, so it was hard to say whether or not that was much of a statement. But they had to agree, it didn't sound nearly as interesting.

"So, is this your secret weapon? Seems long enough." Hikaru asked, giving the end of her braid a flick.

"Hey!" Turtle's foot went immediately into Hikaru's leg, which was a little awkward with them all sitting, but she still hit it pretty damn hard. Definately enough that he'd feel it in the morning. "Don't touch that!"

Hikaru's eyes widened a good amount and he grit his teeth and let out of painful noise. Jesus, this girl hit hard.

//"Ah, fuck...!// What the hell was that for?!" He grabbed his leg and gave her a glare.

"You touched my braid!" Turtle shrieked in response, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "No one touches the braid unless they want pain."

"You didn't have to kick me! It's just a stupid braid! Does it have some freaky powers or something?!" He was getting rather irritated with this new girl. Why did they always meet such tempermental girls?

"It's not just a stupid braid!" Turtle shriek back, her hands tightly wrapping around it. "You take that back!"

"Stupid braid!" Hikaru scooted back into Kaoru. He was quite prepared for another kick just in case.

"I said take it back!" Hikaru was right about another kick coming on the way. And him being closer to Kaoru and the positioning being awkward meant that the next crushing kick went right into Kaoru instead of Hikaru.

Kaoru, who'd been quite the passive observer until then, winced and grabbed for his leg, emitting a soft stream of 'itatatata..'s-something much more natural than 'ow'.
"Damn, I didn't say anything about it!" He rocked a little forward, biting his lip.
Hikaru voice was on the verge of a growl, "I wont't now that you kicked Kaoru!"

"Oh my God!" Turtle gasped. "I'm sorry, Kaoru! I didn't mean to kick you! I meant to kick your stupid brother!"

Who she glared at now. "I wouldn't have kicked him if you hadn't been a jerk, you....jerk!"

Kaoru waved it off, not really wanting to get in the middle of this.

"I'm not a jerk! You're just oversensitive about your hair!"

"Don't ever touch it ever again, or, I swear, I'll kick you so hard you won't be able to walk for a week!"

Hikaru grumbled, "Don't worry, I won't ever touch that nasty thing again."

"Good!" Turtle crossed her arms tightly over her chest and huffed as she settled against the couch and turned away. What a jerk! This guy was worse than Doug! Fifty times worse! And not nearly as cute!

And her braid wasn't nasty at all! He was the one that was all 'oooh, touch, touch, touch.' The jerk.
