Second Floor Common Room; Early Wednesday Evening.

Turtle felt as though her day had been very successful. She'd scoped out the town, gotten herself a job (starting tomorrow! How exciting!), and had picked up a total of two dollars and seventy two cents in change as she walked around the island. A very good day, indeed, especially since, she could tell from her handwavily grabbed copy of the Wall Street Journal that SEA hadn't continued to drop, and the one she was scoping had raised, but not enough that it wouldn't be enough for her SEA to fail to cover it in a few days. Looking pretty good!

Grabbing a bowl of cereal for her dinner, Turtle plopped out the couch, tucked her Journal beside her, and turned on the television. Now that she didn't have her mother restricting her TV time, she definately wanted to see what kind of channels they got here at the school.

[[ common room. open. duh. =D ]]

"Well, you'll get it here," Parker admitted. "We've got people with mutations that act like magic, too, so you can get a really varied experience of different powers. I wish I had some, sometimes." She looked wistful, then grinned. "So I overcompensate by trying five times harder than anyone else."

Tannim smiled at that. "So what brings you here?"

"My dad heard this was an 'exclusive' school. He had no idea about the zombies and vampires and the rest." Parker rolled her eyes. "I stay because it's fun, and it really is a good education. It feeds into a lot of Ivy League colleges." She grinned. "Where else will they let me start a Gun Club?"

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Clearly you're not from Oklahoma," Tannim said. He took a sip of his Gatorade. "My parents know nothing about my magic."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Delaware." Parker grinned, and then sobered. "That can't be easy. I've got a friend who's keeping the same sort of thing from her parents, as well."

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Tannim nodded. "I don't like lying to them, but I don't know how to explain this stuff without them thinking I'm crazy. It'll be easier, here. I won't have to sneak around." He considered for a moment. "Actually, that's probably part of why my mentor recommended this place."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I know it was a huge relief for Isabel-- after some initial trauma-- when she didn't have to lie any more." Parker nodded. "Plus, while I was telling my new fake Little Brother not to do magic here, at least there's people to help you out if you get in trouble with it."

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty good with the magic," Tannim said. If he sounded a bit cocky, well, he was fifteen. "Who's your 'new fake little brother'?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Chris Halliwell. He lives up on Third, must be a sophomore or a freshman. He just found out he can do magic, so he's had a little... culture shock." She grinned. "That, and timeline weirdness. At least your aunt isn't still attending classes here while bartending in town, when you thought she graduated high school more than fifteen years ago."

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, yeah," Tannim said. "Haven't met him yet, but his brother's my roommate."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Wyatt?" Parker cocked her head. "Someone else I have to meet, then. Who did you get for a Big Brother or Sister, by the way?"

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Martin Blank," Tannim said. "He gave me a cricket bat yesterday and told me to use it if I saw anything small and green looking for shiny objects."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Parker chortled. "Giving you the guidance he wishes someone gave him, then. He's right, the gremlins tend to be obnoxious as hell. Marty's got his quirks, but he won't steer you wrong around here."

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Good to know," Tannim said.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Parker grinned. "The gremlins all looooove Marty. Ask him about it, then run." She cocked her head. "So what classes will you be taking? Or have you not signed up yet?"

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I signed up, but I'm not sure what I got into yet," Tannim said. "Let's see, there's 'Defense Against Malicious Magics,' 'Hunting,' and - two others. Can't remember them right now."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
"We might have Hunting together, if we both get in then. I hope you get the rest as well. They're usually pretty good about it, but some of the popular classes, you just have to wait a term." Parker yawned, and checked her watch. "And on that note-- I have been waiting to wake someone up in Wales. Must go torment by phone."

[identity profile] sonofdragons.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Have fun," Tannim smiled. "I'll see you around."
