Second Floor Common Room; Early Wednesday Evening.

Turtle felt as though her day had been very successful. She'd scoped out the town, gotten herself a job (starting tomorrow! How exciting!), and had picked up a total of two dollars and seventy two cents in change as she walked around the island. A very good day, indeed, especially since, she could tell from her handwavily grabbed copy of the Wall Street Journal that SEA hadn't continued to drop, and the one she was scoping had raised, but not enough that it wouldn't be enough for her SEA to fail to cover it in a few days. Looking pretty good!

Grabbing a bowl of cereal for her dinner, Turtle plopped out the couch, tucked her Journal beside her, and turned on the television. Now that she didn't have her mother restricting her TV time, she definately wanted to see what kind of channels they got here at the school.

Jo nodded. "More or less."

"You are a," Irulan decided to try the new term, "'newbie', then?"
wannabehunter: (evil little grin)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Yep, just got here yesterday."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"So did I, the squirrel was interesting."
wannabehunter: (bw - pleased)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I thought it might have been possessed at first."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Irulan frowned. "Why would you think it was possessed?"
wannabehunter: (bw - moody)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Squirrel don't usually have office jobs where I'm from," Jo replied.

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
That was logical but curiousity drove Irulan to ask, "What would you have done if it was possessed?"
wannabehunter: (rifle - front)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Exorcised it." I think.
wannabehunter: (studying)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Sending the demon possessing the squirrel back to hell."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Sending the demon..." Irulan repeated, now maybe she has some sympathy for Pam's staring because she does the exact same thing. "You believe in demons?"
wannabehunter: (looking down)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah," Jo shrugged. "Not that I've ever seen one."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Then how do you know such a creature exists?" She asked, both curious and skeptical.
wannabehunter: (listening)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Because other hunters have seen them, and hunted them."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
She could argue for evidence as a true academic, but she was in an impossible place. Impossible in may be possible in Fandom.

"Alright," Irulan said, "In my world there are no such creatures but things we have created ourselves."
wannabehunter: (listening)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
"You made demon-like creatures?"

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
She thought of the Guild Pilots who no longer looked remotely human. "In order not to be enslaved by thinking machines again? Yes." Then added, "Though they are not... by nature malevolent. They were men once."
wannabehunter: (bw - moody)

[personal profile] wannabehunter 2007-01-04 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Jo frowned. "I'm not sure I understand."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Irulan didn't know how to explain it without going in too much detail. "There is a drug, the spice melange we consume. It prolongs life, it also enhances our ability to see paths were there are none. This same drug enables a pilot to navigate space and fold it. Without spice, our whole civilization will fall to ruin."

The Spice Must Flow!
