The roof, Friday, early evening

Nadia lay flat on her back, staring up at the clouded sky, getting thoroughly damp in the half-hearted rain.

It wasn't warm, but it certainly wasn't cold, and the news she'd gotten about Wilson having woken up had her in a decent mood.

She was still troubled by the fact that the dream she'd gotten about what had happened had come far to late to do, she suspected, even a little bit of good, but she supposed that didn't matter, now.

So she lay on the roof, eyes half-closed to keep the rain from them, and let her mind wander.

Setsuna chuckled a little at the enthusiasm, blushing a bit. "Heh, yeah, I've been back for a few days now. And very, very glad for it. That was an extremely long twelve days..."

"Spent with the twins? I can believe it," Cally said. "You and Ranma have fun, though?"

"Considering Ranma got interogated by my boss, then got into a fight with a crazy person he used to go to school with, and then had the first kiss of the new year with me stolen by Hikaru?" Setsuna? Sounding a little bitter? Oh, yes. "It could have been better. But it wasn't all bad, either. It was nice to see Konoka-Ojou-sama for Christmas; I wish I could have spent more time in Kyoto with her..."

"Konoka-Ojou-sama?" Cally asked. "Wow, that's a mouthful..."

Setsuna smiled a bit. "It's her official proper title, I'm afraid." She was, however, very impressed with Cally's pronounciation.

"Friend from back home, I take it?"

Setsuna nodded, an unwilling blush spreading through her cheeks as she shyly caved into the handle of her umbrella a bit. "Y..yes. She's my best friend, really, although I'm also her protector. I've been in service to her and her family since I was five years old, so we grew up together."

"Awww," Cally said. "That's super adorable. Pity you can't really protect her here, though."

The blush grew stronger. A...adorable? A nervous laugh escaped Setsuna. "I know. It took me forever to get over that when I first came here, but now I realize that the classes I take here are really going to aid me in protecting her later in life, when it will become more necissary to do so. I'm aching to get into that Defense against Malicious Magic class. Konoka-Ojou-sama will be a great magician one day, and I will deserpately need as much training against such things."

Cally nodded with a smile. "And if you need to practice protecting anyone, I wouldn't mind that, myself."

Setsuna chuckled a little. "You'll let me protect you, Cally?"

"Yes," Cally said. "Though I don't have a fancy title or nuffin."

Setsuna smiled and lightly shook her head. "That's okay, Cally," she said with a slight blush. "That isn't necissary."

And then something clicked in Setsuna's head that really made her go a wide-eyed and blushing. That...familiar feeling she always had around Cally suddenly made a lot of sense. Almost more sense for comfort. "You know..." she gulped and looked over at Cally. Yes, that was definately, definately it. "You kind of look like her a bit. Well, except for the whole not being Japanese thing, but, well...the hair, and the structure of your face..."

Oh, God. Cally looked like Konoka-Ojou-sama....This was...

Setsuna really wasn't quite sure what it was.

Cally blinked. "Is this a bad thing?"

"Oh, no! That's a good thing! That's a very good thing! Konoka-Ojou-sama is one of the most beautiful girls I know!"

Setsuna's eyes nearly bulged out of her head as she realized what she had just babbled, which was not only a very inappropriate assessment of her protectee's beauty, but also a suggestion that Cally looked like someone she thought was possibly the most beautiful girl in the world.

...Setsuna regretted that they were on a very open roof, where escaping or hiding was near impossible.

Cally paused, and smiled. "So ya think I'm beautiful?"

Setsuna gulped, and lowered her head, shifting a shoulder upward as she shyly responded, "Well, yeah, I guess. I...I mean, you're no where near as beautiful as Konoka-Ojou-sama," bluuuuush, "but you're still...um...very pretty, Cally."

"Thanks," Cally said. "You're very pretty yourself, Setsuna."

Eeeeeee. Setsuna bit her lip against a smile, and shook her head, which was still definately lowered. "Aw, no, you're just saying that because you feel you should be nice to me because I said nice things about you. I...I'm not that pretty..."

"No, I mean it," Cally said. "I mean, you're not, like, sex idol or anything. But you've got this... you're totally adorable. Which is totally more my type, actually."

...Cally wondered why she was saying this.

And Setsuna wondered why she was now looking up at Cally with that tight feeling in her chest, her breath all constricted, and her lips suddenly dry. "Y...your type?" It barely got out of her, almost just a squeak. She managed to swallow, but it was a hard, difficult gulp.

Cally blinked. "You do know I'm into girls, right?"

"Hm?" Setsuna also blinked, for a moment, staring at Cally as if in a daze, before fiercely shaking her head. "Uh, y..yeah, of course. I mean, you and Mac are...are together, right? Uhh, yeah, I..I knew that..."

...I just...didn't really know I was. Ack! But she wasn't! It was just Konoka-Ojou-sama, and even that...that was...

Setsuna gulped again. She did date a boy who could be a girl. And she had felt all sorts of funny things when she saw Ranma in a kimono...

"Yeah, me and Mac are definitely a thing," Cally said. "Several month thing, actually. Very thing, thing. Us."

Just who's benefit was she repeating that for?

Setsuna's head bobbed along with every word. "Oh, absolutely. You guys are so cute together. Ranma and me...y'know, Ranma, that's my boyfriend, we have a several month thing, too. Things are...things are really good...uhh, things to have. Totally."

If words could flail, that was exactly what Setsuna's words were doing.
