The roof, Friday, early evening

Nadia lay flat on her back, staring up at the clouded sky, getting thoroughly damp in the half-hearted rain.

It wasn't warm, but it certainly wasn't cold, and the news she'd gotten about Wilson having woken up had her in a decent mood.

She was still troubled by the fact that the dream she'd gotten about what had happened had come far to late to do, she suspected, even a little bit of good, but she supposed that didn't matter, now.

So she lay on the roof, eyes half-closed to keep the rain from them, and let her mind wander.

"He's probably still in the clinic, if you want to go visit him."

"I think I might do that," Cally said, though she knew that'd probably only make her feel worse.

"He'd probably appreciate it. I sang to him this morning. . . . but he was still unconscious."

"You sang to him?" Cally said. "That's kinda sweet."

"Sublime Gracia. I don't know if it helped or anything, but Pippi contacted him or something last night, and she said that someone should keep talking to him."

"Sure would be nice, someone singing to me if I was all messed up like that," Cally said. "Let's hope that doesn't ever happen, though, right?"

"Heck yeah. I've had to spend time in the clinic, and the doctors are very nice? But I wouldn't recommend it."

"Well, not like I got seekin' out trouble anyways," Cally said. "I'm a smart girl."

"I've been saying that for months."

Cally stuck her tongue out. "Guess it's finally true."

"Nice to know you got your head out of your ass," Nadia said playfully.

Cally stuck her tongue out again. "I dunno, maybe you should look and check for me?"

"I could call Mac and ask her to look,"

"This conversation is very weird," Cally said.

Cally nodded. "We might be insane."

"I think I can deal with that."
