Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Afternoon

Chris decided to make himself comfortable in the common room and flipped through the TV channels until he hit on the football playoffs.

"Probably not," Molly said with a shake of her head. "Both of my parents were mutants and they might not have been together if they weren't. So, chances are slim."

That got Tyler curious. "So were they both super-strong too, or different mutations?" he wondered aloud. "I never thought of it as a dominant gene."

"They were telepaths," Molly said. "They could make people do things with their minds."

That kind of power scared Tyler a little. "Scary. It's easy enough to mess with people's minds without doing it from the inside," he said, with a shudder. "No offense."

Molly shook her head. "None taken. My parents were evil."

Tyler almost started his standard rant abotu his dad, but he could tell Molly wasn't joking and, honestly, he's not that big an asshole. "I'm sorry," he said instead. "Mine are gone."

"So are mine now," Molly said evenly. "I'm sorry for you, too."

"My story's more boring than yours," Tyler shrugged. "It's not a big deal."

"Do you miss them?" Molly asked.

"My dad's out in Phoenix," Tyler shrugged. "He remembers I exist maybe twice a year. I never knew him anyhow, he left when I was little."

"My mom ..." he added. "She was a good lady."

"What about you?"

"I miss the parents I knew before I found out that it was all a lie," she said. "Not as much anymore, but I still dream about my mom sometimes."

"I don't dream much," Tyler said shortly. "But yeah, I almost miss the way things were when I was little and they were together. They weren't great, but much better than they were later."
