Gym, Cheerleading practice, Wednesday, afternoon (after classes)

Buffy bounced into the gym, looking extremely cheerful and ready to start the practices for the new year. "Hello everyone! I have great news!" She waved an envelope at them. "We're going to our first competition on the 24th of February! Isn't that fantastic? Of course, this means we must train very hard and diligently until then."

Judging from Buffy's expression, this was a good thing.

"Also, on Sunday we have a new try-out session - which I hope you know - so I hope as many of us as possible can be there, and remember to bully badger threaten coerce convince tell all your friends!"

Buffy smiled brightly again and turned on the CD player. Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind, Hey Mickey!

She raised her voice. "Today we're going to try something really exciting! Pyramids! Small, light people at the top, strong types at the bottom. It really important that everyone's paying attention and, um, try not to fall down." She chewed her lip a little worriedly, before smiling again and clapping her hands. "Let's get to it!"

D'anna looked over the handwavey info for the competition and wondered if it was possible to bring back Buffy-puppy.

(But that was only because she was feeling lazy and going back to bed after first period hadn't helped improve things.)

"You're welcome!" D smiled widely, "I failed at Christmas last year so I thought I'd give this last one a shot."

"...That would probably do it, yes," Buffy admitted. A brilliant idea hit her. "Hey, do you still have your huge room?"

River waved. "Thank you. For the presents." She handed D'anna a crumpled paperbag with a small spaceship model in. "This is for you."

"You're welcome! I'm glad you liked them!" D smiled brightly and took the crumpled bag, "Thank you, very much."

She paused for a moment to look at the ship then asked, "you're not from here either then, huh?"

"No, but that's not from where I'm from," River explained. "Blair and I visited Ivanova on Babylon 5 over Christmas. Got it there. It's a Vorlon ship."

"Where are you from?" D asked, innocently curious. "I've never heard of Vorlon but it's lovely, thank you. ...it almost looks like a living creature."

"Well, I got kidnapped by evil mutants, but Jamie blew up the Statue of Liberty to save me. Then I got back here and my new guardian was in a coma for a week. But right now? I'm good. You?"

D blinked.

"That sounds... eventful. I have no idea what a Statue of Liberty is but I'm going to assume that blowing one up is quite impressive and I have the feeling I should call bullshit on the 'good' but I've been wrong before." D took a breath after an incredibly long run-on. "Nothing half so interesting happened on my trip home and I'm not too bad myself."

Janet eyed Buffy. "Do you have an invisible caffeine IV permanently attached, or are you naturally this perky?" she asked. "Pyramids look like they could be fun. If no one breaks anything."

"It's too bad we didn't think of it then!" D giggled. "Not even for a Clon-dik-bar?" She wasn't sure what it was or why people would want one, but she'd heard about it in Ethics last term and figured it was worth a go.
