2nd Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Tannim settled in on the couch with a bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs and the remote. As he flipped through the channels, he grumbled about the lack of Sunday morning cartoons.

"Well, I've been trying," Turtle waved her hand a bit, "to talk about school, but all you respond with is 'I guess' and nods. Not much of a conversation if I'm just talking to a hood, y'know?"

Nova gave her a nod then rethought that action and said, "I'll try harder." He was sure he could be more than a hood.

"Hmmm, well," Turtle looked at him thoughtfully before saying, "maybe I'm not picking good topics. Let's try somethng that someone can say a lot about. Like where you're from. Why you're here."

Well, he had promised. "I'm from Karakura, Japan," he said.

"I'm here to explore my new freedom and learn how normal people live," he had to rethink that last part. There seemed to be very few normal people in this place.

Sweet! She got more than a single sentense from him! Turtle loved the taste of progress.

"New freedom? What, did you not have much freedom before?" Did that, somehow, explain the weird mask, she wondered to herself.

He thought about it. "Mod-souls were meant to be destroyed a long time ago," he said thinking.

"Despite that fact, I was given this body in order to help my friends. But..." He was caught in a thought about what would happen after all the Bounto business was over.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle frowned a little, not understanding any of that. "...Is this a religious thing?" she asked, not wanting to inadvertantly say anything to offend anyone's weird religious customs.

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Nova frowned now also. He didn't even remember ever going to a shrine. He had to shake his head.

"No.." Confusion was never any fun. "That is just what I am."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, then, yeah. Nova was just weird.

"Huh."

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Nova sunk behind his hood, hiding the extremely distraught, frowny expression he had.

"I'm...a mod-soul." He paused, calming himself. "It's not a religion."

"Ohh-kayy..." Turtle looked at him like he was crazy. Because she kind of thought he was. "Well...what the heck is that? I never heard of a mod-soul before."

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Nova was further distressed by the look he was getting. "Mod-souls were created for combat, and they can be placed into any vacant body." It was the explanation he had come up with, and he stuck to it.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Any body?" Turtle said, skeptically, while also biting back a comment that if he could be put in any body, why the hell'd he pick that one?

"So, if you really wanted to, you could take any body and, like, be that person?"

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"A vacant body," he pointed out. He didn't want to imagine what would happen if his soul had to compete with another for its current residence.

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"One without a soul." He wondered if he should mention that this included the bodies of stuffed animals.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"...Oh." Turtle frowned; as a person not even in the slightest bit religion, she wasn't even sure she believed in people having souls, or that she had one, so she marked herself as someone who should maybe watch out for Nova trying to take over her body...

...if any of that was even true, anyway. Maybe Nova didn't get enough air and oxygen to his brain with that hood covering his mouth and nose like that.

"That...is definately different, Nova."

[identity profile] 00-nova-00.livejournal.com 2007-01-15 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Nova was just happy that there seemed to be no more confusion despite any body-snatcheresque thoughts Turtle may or may not be having.

He didn't know what to say so he just responded with, "hmmm..." in an 'is that so' kind of way.
