Fourth floor common room, Sunday morning

Dean was in the kitchen making breakfast for whoever happened by as he occasionally was wont to do. Hunter was with him, stalking across the back of the sofa and sniffing curiously inbetween the cushions. The tv, thankfully had been dispossessed of whatever weirdness that had had it playing pirate porn the night before and Dean had it tuned to nothing more provocative than some music videos.

All in all it was a fairly cheerful morning.

"That's me. And same," Alec said, grinning. "Have fun at the party?"

"Met nice people, saw cute girls, I'd say it was a success," Peter said. "You?"

"Had a good time - never anything but with Seahorses, though," Alec said cheerfully ~~though his mun apologizes for passing out so early on~~. "So are you tired of getting confused with the other guy yet?"

~~No worries as Peter's mun did the same thing~~ "I'm getting used to introducting myself as fast as I can," Peter replied. "So far there haven't been any problems but I'd hate to think of somebody confusing me and kissing me or something. Though I guess I came close with that girl Rory."

"Man, I wish I had those kind of problems," Alec said, amused. "I think most people were just getting me and Dean finally sorted out when all you new kids got here. I'm kind of resigned to hearing it for as long as I'm here, really."

Peter cocked his head and looked at Alec. "You don't act the same way Dean does. I can't put my finger on it but now that I've met the both of you there's little differences."

Alec nodded. "We're two different people," he said. "I mean, we have a lot in common, but we don't think the same and we come from pretty different places."

"Exactly," Peter said. "Even more than twins because you're not one person split in two."

"No, I've got one of those already," Alec said, smirking. "But hell if I know anything about him besides that we came from the same test tube."

"You've got a brother?" Peter asked, not quite getting the same meaning of 'test tube' as Alec indended.

"I've got a clone," Alec corrected. "Technically twins, I guess, but not naturally."

"Oh wow," Peter said. "Does he go here?"

Alec shook his head. "He escaped a long time before I did," he said. "Went crazy or something. So, probably a good thing he doesn't."

Peter gave a sympathetic wince at the mention of the clone going crazy. "Are you okay?"

"I wasn't there when it happened," Alec said, shrugging. If he was upset about it, it was disturbingly well hidden behind a mask of nonchalance. "I got a clean bill of mental health - no crazy here beyond the regular teenage kind."

"I was in the hospital before I got here," Peter said. "My family was worried that I was going crazy in the not so regular way."

Alec looked curious. "What happened?"

"Tried to fly by jumping off a building," Peter said. "They thought it was a suicide attempt."

"But you were trying to fly," Alec repeated, giving Peter an odd look. "Did you think you'd be able to?"

"Felt sure I could," Peter told him.

Alec smirked faintly, looking somewhat dubiously at Peter. "Just out of the blue?"

"I'd had dreams about it," Peter explained. "Really strong dreals. Like they were real."

"I've had dreams like that," Alec said, making a face. "Nothing as nice as being able to fly, but realistic? Been there."

"Got any tips for a guy who's feeling his way around this?" Peter asked.

Alec paused a second, not quite expecting that question and giving it the thought it likely deserved. "Have someone around to ground you, literally if needed. Af you know it's a dream, you're a step ahead of me when it happened, so just don't take it for granted."
