4th floor common room, Monday after Lunch

Having gone to the office to get her mini-vacation with Father approved, Ami sat down in the 4th floor common room to do a bit of reading. She had several College catalogs in front of her, and her computer was nearby for reference purposes. A large bowl of popcorn was on the floor where she could reach it.

"Hi Setsuna. Well, it is a catalog. I would like to take a correspondence course in Maths you see."

Setsuna looked at Ami for a long moment.

"...Why?" she asked.

Ami raelly did not understand the question. "Um, because otherwise i am not takingany Maths classes this term?"

Setsuna allowed a small smile as she went over and joined Ami on the couch. "Isn't that a good thing?"

"No!" Ami sounded positively horrified. "Maths is very important, especially for future study."

Setsuna's eyes widened a little at horrification in Ami's voice, seemed to almost back up warily. "But...future study is about all it's good for, unless you want to go into something like technology or rocket science." Which she definately did not. Math was entirely useless to her profession...

"I want to be a doctor. Math and Science is very important."

Setsuna nodded, finding that answer satisfactory. "I suppose you are right there."

Ami smiled. "Math is not a subject you like i take it?"

"Not particularly," Setsuna admitted. "I'm not good at it, nor do I find it useful or practical."

"Ah, see i findit everywhere. If i want to write a computer program? There is Math. If i want to adjust a recipe? There is Math again. " Her voice went quiet as she spoke "and i find it fun"

Setsuna smiled softly; she certainly wasn't going to hold it against Ami that she found math fun. She thought it was actually kind of cute. "Well, I'm not one for programming or baking, either."

THat made Ami chuckle. "I bake when i am stressed. I program because it is fun. What do you do for fun Setsuna?"

"Practise my swordwork," Setsuna smiled wistfully.

"You sound the same about yoru swordwork as i do about my studying" Amy grinned. "So, what do you do when you are stressed? Let me guess, practice your swordwork?"

Setsuna grinned, because Ami was right, but then a horrible thought struck her. "You don't...do math when you're stressed, do you?"

Ami shook her head giggling a bit. "No, especially not if i am stressed abotuthe Math. No, i bake. Usually cakes of all kinds." She grinned. "Bad for the waist-line, good for the soul."

"I?" Setsuna said, with a small chuckle at Ami's giggle, trying to avoid acknowleding that it was terribly cute. "Cannot bake. I've been able to manage brownies and I do well with making Japanese foods, but baking? Can be pretty scary."

"It is just like chemistry. You measure and you mix and you let the heat do the rest." She nodded as she spoke. "If you want we can bake something together and i can show you?"
