4th floor common room, Monday after Lunch

Having gone to the office to get her mini-vacation with Father approved, Ami sat down in the 4th floor common room to do a bit of reading. She had several College catalogs in front of her, and her computer was nearby for reference purposes. A large bowl of popcorn was on the floor where she could reach it.

"does that happen often, drilling through the floor?"

"Nope," Cally said. "But you never know when it might be neccessary, here."

"In case of floor monsters that can only be defeated by having holes drilled into them?"

"You totally have the hang of this school," Cally said.

"You know" Ami pointed out "That is actually sort of frightening. That i can say somethign completly ridiculous and then realize that yes it can happen here."

"I guess," Cally said with a shrug. "That's fandom for ya."

AMi nodded. "So i am begining to udnerstand. What would you be drilling anyway? do you build things?"

"Yeah," Cally said. "I'm going into the military to be a mechanic for a bit, once I graduate."

"The military here or the military where you are from? Oh, oops, i forgot, i was told i am supposed to always say that i am from Tokyo and from the year 2007 when i meet new people."

"Oh, okay," Cally said. "I'm from another planet, called Caprica. And their military."

"Oooh, where is your planet located, relative to this one?" Ami? Suddenly all Science.

"I have no frakking clue, sorry," Cally said.

"I am a bit of a science geek, i am sorry. Is it really different?"

"Not really," Cally said. "We have spaceships, you guys don't. That's really the only major difference."

Ami nodded. "I have never seen a spaceship, except on TV. Maybe someday, we will have them here andi will get to see one."

"...we sorta have one on the roof," Cally said.

Ami blinked. "Of the school?!?"

"Well, on the dorm building," Cally said. "It doesn't fly, though."

AMi didn't care that it didn't fly. "Can i see? Please?"

"Well, anyone can head to the roof," Cally said. "It's kinda hard to miss. It's the big thing that looks like a fighter jet, sorta."

"I will have to go look. How come it doesn't fly?"

"Because I turned most of it into a still," Cally said.

"Like to make alcohol? Why?"

"...because I gave up on trying to make it fly?" Cally said.

"I see. A good reason indeed. I will have to go look at it at some point later. Thanks for telling me it was up there!"
