School Grounds/Outside the Garage, Wednesday 3rd Period - After Lunch

Great, so after a fairly upsetting trip to the clinic, Anders had found out from Tori last night that Angela seemed to be missing. Then he'd stopped by the library after Spy Tech this morning to find out that Bridge hadn't made it in for his shift, which really wasn't like him. All of this was adding up to a big old ball of worrisome things, and now Anders was beyond waiting for the other shoe to fall; he was waiting for the entire shoe rack to cave in on his head.

But he still didn't have any clue where to start as far as figuring things out, and he was angry, frustrated, and scared. Not to mention feeling really gross from smoking his way through two packs of cigarettes last night.

So once he got back from the library he went up to his room to put on the leather riding gear, then headed down to the garage, where he climbed on his Glider, fired up the engines, and took off on a tense, breakneck-speed ride around the island several times, until he felt calm enough to think.

Which was exactly what he did -- while sitting cross-legged on his Glider outside the garage, making inroads on a new pack of cigarettes.

Luke had been wandering campus and stopped when he heard the sound of an unfamiliar engine.

Being a Skywalker, he had to see what it was. He walked closer to the garage, put on a friendly smile and said "Hi!"

Not the most original opening ever, but it got the point across.

Rory had knocked patiently on Bridge's door and tried his phone several more times after she'd found the library Bridge-less at lunch.

So she'd figured that finding Anders was the next step. "You know, those things'll kill you."

Tori had been outside, walking around campus, trying to clear her head and make sense of what had happened in the past few days. Cally, now Angela.

Hearing an engine, Tori made her way to the source of the noise, finding Anders. "Hey." She smiled and waved slightly.

"Hey," Anders said, looking up and smiling back. "You're . . . Luke, right?"

"I know, I know," Anders said with a sheepish smile. "Willow's Christmas present sure got that across, but I'm kind of freaking out here. Look, Gilmore, have you seen Bridge today? I haven't seen him since yesterday afternoon, and he wasn't in the library."

"Hey, Tori," Anders said, waving back at her. "Any sign of your roommate yet?"

"No, still nothing." Tori shook her head, knowing something had to be seriously wrong for her to not have come back by now.

"Nope," she said, shaking her head and looking more worried. "And he's not in his room, and he's not picking up his phone."

"Oh, not good. I can't find Bridge, either. Ms. Readman says he never showed up to open the library this morning." Anders punched the hull of the Glider and grimaced when his knuckles protested.

"That's me," Luke said, nodding. "What were you flying?"

Important things first, you see.

"No." Tori grimaced. "Bridge is gone too?" She frowned. Now this was getting bad. She wondered if she should tell Anders about what Bridge had told her the other night.

"I don't know if Bridge mentioned this to you, but he and Z were in the park the other night and lost their powers. Maybe Gruumm had something to do with his disappearance?" It was the only logical explanation.

"Last time I saw him he wasn't exactly in the best shape," Anders replied. He'd pulled a fresh cigarette out of the pack, but instead of lighting it he was picking it to pieces. "But that was hours ago."

"Oh, this?" Anders patted the hull of his little jet-propelled hovercraft. "Bridge built it for me. Won't fly in vacuum, but it's a pretty fun ride anyway. Great for when you've got some tension to work off, too. Like now."

He sighed. "Have you seen Bridge? He's kind of AWOL this morning."

Luke wrinkled up his nose. "We tend to stay out of each other's way," he said. "Maybe he's off with Z? I haven't seen her today either."

"He did tell me that, yeah," Anders said. "And it would make sense, wouldn't it? Zap their powers, and it'd be easier to get the jump on them. Otherwise there's no reason for someone to just do that and then run away. Parker told me she saw a strange little girl wandering around the other night, and it's not that big an island. You'd think we'd have known if she'd been around before . . ."

"Oh, great. Don't even tell me she's missing too," Anders said. Anxiety just ratcheted up a notch or five. "Especially since they had that weird run-in with the kid in the park the other night."

"It would." Tori nodded, hoping she was wrong but knowing deep down that it was most likely the right answer to what had occurred.

"I would've thought someone would have mentioned her before..." It was very strange. Tori knew they had to do something. "Well, we have to do something..." Get them back. Find Angela, too.

Luke picked up immediately on Anders' anxiety. "Weird run-in?" he repeated.

"Yeah." Anders wasn't sure how much he should divulge about what exactly had happened, but it was probably pretty obvious that whatever had happened was bothering him a lot. "This little girl was in the park, looking for them. By name, apparently."

Rory bit her lip. "You don't think he ran away or something, do you?" she asked quietly.

"Bridge never mentioned anything about knowing little kids around here. Cousins or anything. So why would one just show up and start asking people to help her find them?" Anders scowled. "I don't like it."

"Why would he do that?" asked Anders, frowning.

"Z doesn't have family," Luke said, frowning. "Does Bridge have a little sister?"

"Not that he's ever told me about. I'm pretty sure it's just him. And he said she was kind of creepy, which is probably not a good sign either."

"I have no idea, but nothing else makes sense," she said. "If he was sick, he'd be in his room. If he had to leave for some reason, wouldn't he answer his phone?"
