Second Floor Common Room - Thursday Morning (Before Classes)

The giant pillow/blanket/chair fort of awesome was still up from last night. Thankfully, someone had turned the TV off so Rescued by the Alarm wasn't on anymore. Kawalsky had fallen asleep during that really bad murder mystery weekend episode where Zeke was in on it the whole time.

Worst episode ever.

He emerged from the fort and eyed the common room kitchenette. This situation called for pancakes. He got to it, being a pancake ninja and all.

"Pancakes! Get your pancakes."

[OOC: Free pancakes! Feel free to come in or say that you stayed there the whole night in the fort. I'll be here until I fall asleep.]

"I haven't been working out. Gonna have to get right on that after I eat all these pancakes." He dished some out fresh onto a plate for John. There was even New Hampshire maple syrup available on the counter. "How's Aeryn taking the post-grad plans? She gonna be okay in our crazy little corner of the galaxy?"

"Mmmm. Smells good," John said, taking the syrup and dousing the pancakes. "And she's doing okay. She's excited or so she tells me. Wait till graduation and you'll probably see an entirely different face from her."

"A happy face or a 'oh god what have I gotten myself into, can I really handle this, please hold my hand but I'm not gonna ask you to do that because I'm too tough' face?"

Not that he'd considered the latter too seriously himself.

John thought about it. "The second one maybe. For a specific reason. Not a bad one though."

"She doesn't have anything to worry about. She's got you. But what specific reason?"

"Can you keep a secret? Super top secret, dude."

Kawalsky raised an eyebrow, shrugged and nodded. "Of course."

"I'm asking Aeryn the big question sometime that day. You're the second person to know this."

"No way," he replied. "No way!" He broke out into a big grin. "That's awesome, man." He clapped Crichton on the shoulder. "Really awesome." He lowered his voice. "You got a ring yet?"

He shook his head. "Still looking. Shopping for a ring for a woman who carries a gun is hard."

"If you want a partner in crime to do a trip on the mainland, count me in. There's probably a place in Alexandria that'll do custom stuff too if you get any ideas." He flipped a pancake. "So am I getting an invite or am I gonna have to gatecrash?"

John perked up at that. "You'd help me shop? Awesome because I was this close to just giving her a shoe tree or something. And you're on the invite list, dude. Groomsman!"

"Seriously?" He looked genuinely surprised. "Wow man, I'm honored. And of course I'll help you shop. I wouldn't let you go into one of those places without back-up."

"Thanks," John said, sounding relieved. "And of course, dork. I've already got those things picked out. I may be overthinking this but oh well."

"No, no, gotta work these things out. Better than winging it at the last minute and getting hitched at the Chapel of Love by an Elvis impersonator with your witnesses being a weird British couple named Richie Cunningham and Oprah. So who's the other person that knows? Just so I don't get tripped up by anyone fishing for information."

"Angel," John said. "He's the first person I told. And the only other person that's probably gonna know beforehand is Rory."

"Got it. Your secret's safe with me." He grinned. "So cool."

"Thanks," John said, smiling again. "I'm pretty excited."

"If you need anything else, I'm just down the hall. I'm pretty good with distractions and misdirection." He grinned.

"Come graduation, I might take you up on that. I wanna do it...differently. Not just down on one knee, you know."

"There's a couple of months to go. I think between us we can come up with something pretty impressive."

He laughed and rubbed his head. "I think she'd freak out over skywriting but wow, would that be awesome."

"You want it, you got it. Seriously man, whatever you've got in mind, we'll make it happen."

"Thanks man," John said and stuck his hand out towards Charlie.

Charlie grinned and shook it.
