Second Floor Common Room, Saturday, Late Morning

Leaving a very cranky Wyatt, Tannim came out to the Common Room, put on a pot of coffee and poured a bowl of cereal.

Simba was surprised but pleased at how many fans he was getting today. He tried to puff up a little to make himself look more regal, but it ended up just making him look fluffier.

"My name's Simba!" he said.

"Why couldn't I talk when I was a kitten," Zero grumbled. Then she said brightly, "Hi, Simba! How are you this fine morning?"

"I'm hungry!" he answered honestly. "Do you know where I can get some zebra?" His tail swished back and forth hopefully behind him.

"Um, no, we don' have any zebras on Fandom Island. We have teal deer, but they're endangered an' don' you eat them! How about some nice..." Zero went into the kitchen and peered into the refrigerator. "Um. Yogurt?"

Teal dear, hmm? Simba decided that he'd have to try some hunting on his own later on.

"Sure, sounds good. I'm hungry enough to eat a whole wildebeest today!"

"Swerval. I don't think we have those, either, though." Zero found a bowl in the cupboard and spooned the yogurt, which was strawberry, into it so Simba could eat it. She set it down in front of him and said, "There ya go. Breakfast." Then she scribbled an IOU on a scrap of paper and stuck it in the fridge for whoever owned the yogurt. "I know how hard it is not havin' opposable thumbs."

Simba knelt down a bit to lap up the yogurt out of the bowl. It was even more delicious than the poptarts someone else had thrown him.

"Thanks. This is really good. Having all this stuff here made for animals with opposible thumbs is discrimination against us that don't have them."

"S'terrible, is what it is. But the thing is, most of the time most of us do have opposable thumbs. Things just...periodically go sideways." Zero hesitantly reached out to pat him with one hand while grabbing her camera with the other. "So, Simba, you're a, er, lion?"

Simba let her pet him one or twice before trying to bat her hand away. Offering food only gave you so many free scritches.

"I am! And one day, I'm going to be King of the whole Pridelands!"

Awww. "And where's that?"

He blinked. Lions didn't use the same sort of mapping systems that humans did.

"Home. It's the best part of Africa."

"Well, I'm sure you'll be a most swerval king," Zero assured him, "and it's been very nice to speak to you, your high--wait. Wait. Does that mean you're a prince?"

Simba tried to puff up to look more important, but only succeeded at making himself look fluffier.

"Yep! I guess you could call me the Lion Prince if you wanted too."

If Zero was right about what was going on here, she'd just found the star piece of her documentary. "I'll call you whatever you want me to, kiddo."

Zero was likely right on the money with her guess, but Simba had no way of knowing that until he turned back into a human Danish prince on Monday and spent a couple days emoing in the dark of his room about all this.

"Great," he said, smiling a toothy lion grin for the camera.

"I tell you what, I've gotta go talk to some of these other people right now, but I'll be around all weekend, so why don't you come find me sometime an' tell me what you've been up to? It'll be fun!"

"Oh sure! That'd be great!" Simba loved it when people focused their attention on him. He debated for a minute between rubbing Zero's leg or not before she left.

He decided to go for yes.
