Third Floor Common Room; Late Wednesday Night.

Chad...wasn't getting any sleep tonight. While the dinos were tired from their adventures in Empire, Shinobu and Vincente decided to have a party on his bed, jumping and dancing in plushy cactus and teal deer silence. He didn't mind, so long as their crazy antics weren't disturbing Katara. He'd just go to the common room for a bit, with his Carnivore Kingdom DVDs and some popcorn.

Why did it seem like Chad was suddenly speaking another language?

"Hollow?"

"Uhhh..." Hm, how best to describe a Hollow? "Evil, incomplete souls stuck on earth. They eat other souls an' spirit energy."

There was blinking. And then more blinking.

"Are those common where you're from?"

"All over the place. But not everyone can see 'em. I still can't see 'em entirely."

Probably less so now that it's been a while, but Chad really tried not to worry about the fact that he only had his powers because of Ichigo, and, without Ichigo, he might...lose them...

"Are they dangerous?"

Chad nodded. "'Specially if you've got spirit force."

Teddy hugged Chad close. "And you do?"

"Jus' a little," Chad admitted, appriciating the hug as he returned it. "S'what my arm thing's made of."

"No getting attacked on my watch."

"'Kay," Chad said, nuzzling into Teddy a little.

Teddy gave him a quick kiss, pulling away to keep it at a common room level PDA.

"So, what, you fight these Hollow things back home?"

Chad grunted an affirmation, after getting a kiss, too. "Ichigo did most of it, 'cause he's the Shinigami, but I helped when I could."

Sometimes Teddy thought it might be good to learn Japanese. This was one of those times.

"What's a shinigami?"

"Death God. They put the Hollows to rest."

"Oh." Teddy frowned. "Okay."

He watched the lions rend the wildebeast for a few minutes.

"So, how did you get involved in the Hollow/Shinigami thing?"

Chad's arms tightened around Teddy a little. "Jus' kinda happened, really. I got this bird."

...

There was a long pause.

"Then I started noticin' stuff like that."

Teddy responded by hugging back and tilting his head to look up at Chad.

"Hollows?"

Chad nodded. "They were after Yuuichi."

Teddy hazarded a guess. "The bird?"

Chad grinned a little, arching over to nuzzle against Teddy's cheek a little. "Not quite. The soul stuck in the bird."

Okay, the nuzzling was totally distracting from the story. Not that Teddy was really complaining.

"Normal back home?"
