The Roof - Thursday Afternoon

After finishing up his Anatomy class and grabbing some lunch, Neil decided to head up onto the roof with his radio. He didn't want to drive Conner nuts with the old time radio programs but was having a good time listening to them.

Finding a spot to perch up on the edge of the room, Neil turned on the radio and then hunkered down into his coat and looked out over the island. It really was a beautiful view from up here, the water reminding him of the big lake back at Welton. He wasn't exactly emo, so maybe it could be called the thoughtful roof today?

It had been awhile since Annette ventured up to the roof, so with Gordon (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/serenityunleashed/pinkpig.jpg) on a leash (yes, he was finally not mad at her anymore) she decided to get a healthy dose of crisp clean air.

She heard the music first, and then Gordon squealed, and squealed again.

Ami had not gotten a chance to see the roof yet but she has heard a lot about it. so here she was, looking. Noting yet another person she had not yet met, Ami waved in case he was friendly, and sat down nearby so as not to disturb him. This reminded her of the times she had lunch on the roof of her old school.

The sound of squealing, definitely caught Neil's wandering attention and he looked over his shoulder towards Annette and...uh...

"Err...I think your stuffed animal is squealing?"

Neil returned the girl's friendly wave with a friendly smile and a wave of his own but as she seemed to be caught in her own thoughts, he didn't make any attempt to interupt her.

The roof was definitely good for thinking!

Noting the wave and smile Ami walked over, daring to be less shy. "Hello. I am Ami, i do not think we have met previously?"

River had wandered up on to the roof to look at the sky and contemplate other solar systems. When she noticed Neil she waved and smiled.

As she came over, Neil moved his legs off the edge of the roof and turned about so that he could politely stand up.

"Neil Perry." He offered with a smile, holding out his hand. "I don't believe we have, Ami but it's a pleasure to meet you."

Catching the wave out of the corner of his eye Neil turned and smiled warmly when he saw River. He returned her wave with a wiggle of his own fingers and motioned to the radio to see if she wanted him to turn it down.

She nodded, looking over at him, and smiled faintly. "I think he likes your music."

Annette walked closer to where he was perched upon the ledge. "I've seen you around but I haven't yet met you. I'm Annette Hargrove." She held out her hand as Gordon ran around in little circles, snorting.

Ami shook his hand "It is a pleasure to meet you. Are you new here as well?"

River didnt mind the radio, but she took a seat next to Neil. "Hello," she said loudly.

"Well, I agree these old programs are a lot of fun." Neil said with a smile as he watched the pig for a moment.

Then he turned back to Annette and held out his hand.

"Neil Perry." He offered. "It's a pleasure to meet you Annette.

"I am." Neil said as he returned the shake and then lowered his hand. "Started this semester in the junior class. Are you new as well?"

Chuckling, Neil leaned down and turned the radio program down a bit so it was easier to converse.

"Afternoon, River. How are you doing?"

Ami nodded. "I am a freshman here, newly from Tokyo. Oh and um, 2007. How about yourself?"

"A pleasure to meet you as well, Neil." She said and shook his hand gently. Letting go, she untangled the leash from around her leg.

"Silly pig."

Smiling at Neil, she indicated the view with a tilt of her head. "It's a great view -- were you lost in thought?"

Neil chuckled at the antics of the stuffed pig then turned and looked out across the island.

"Oh, a little maybe. It's a gorgeous view and I was listening to an old radio show from...well, from my time you could say. Had me thinking about home."

"1950s." Neil offered up with a wry smile. "Little bit behind the time curve."

"Good. Berthold's back. You?" She smiled at him.

"At lest it is not a different planet." she smiled as she spoke "Is it very different?"

She cast him a sideways glance. He was very well groomed, hair neat, clothes neat, and she didn't recognize the old radio show. "Where is home if you don't mind my asking?"

Alanna came up to the roof to mope think and waved to the random people.

Flipper (http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/bigstuffedanimals_1931_4906932) had been making noise almost all morning, so Tori decided to take him outside and felt that the roof would do nicely.

She smiled in relief as the squeaking stopped and put Flipper on the ground, so he could move around freely but really be watched closely. Tori heard the radio and looked around, spotting Neil.

"Afternoon." She smiled warmly and waved.

Flipper was squeaking excitedly, happy to be outside and able to roam on the roof. Tori was keeping a watchful on him, when she was distracted by the squealing.

Spotting Annette and Gordon, Tori waved.

She turned at the sound of the squeaking and smiled and waved at Tori. "Hey, Tori! I see Flipper is still his excited self."
