The Pool, Friday early morning

Ami swam laps as usual. This time however she was using the large clock on the wall to time herself. She was not very pleased with the results.

"Good morning," she said cheerily. Then she chuckled. "I wish I had your energy this morning."

"It is the exercise that gives me the energy actually" she chuckled. "Besides it is too cold to jog today"

"Maybe watching you will give me energy," she grinned. "Because I can't seem to find mine. And I don't want to go outside today unless I have too. Too cold."

"It really is. But i have to, if nothing else i have a class, and a date tonight."

"No classes for me today - it's lazy all the way." She chuckled.

"Ohh a date! How nice!"

"That is me on Thursdays, no classes. Good day to catch up on homework though." A wide grin spread on Ami's face, cause you know, date. "Yeah. It should be very nice. If cold."

"Yeah," Annette sighed. "I do need to get some homework done. I've got to knit this scarf for Home Ec and write an essay for Spy Tech."

Her grin was infectious and Annette smiled wide. "Where is he taking you?" She assumed it was a he.

"Aw, now i wish i was taking Home Ec. I love to knit mufflers."

Ami thought of Billy and really if ti was possible her grin got wider. "Well, it was my turn to pick where we are going, so dinner of Chinese food and a movie. Indoor activities due to coldness."

"I have to learn to knit. This is going to be a trial and error thing I am thinking." She grinned wryly.

"A movie sounds great, so does Chinese food! I love Chinese. So who is the lucky guy?"

"I can help if you want? I am pretty good at knitting, especially flat straight things." Ami, the helpful sort, yup.

"Do you know Billy? Him."

"Thank you! I think I will have a go at it first and if I can't get it then I will call you to help me. Have I met you before? I'm Annette Hargrove."

Her eyes widened and she sucked in a bit of air. "Billy? Uh...yeah, I know Billy. He's your boyfriend?" Why didn't Billy tell her he had a girlfriend?

"Oh how horrid of me, i am sorry. I am Ami Mizuno. Come by anytime, i am in 408."

Ami looked curiously at Anette's reaction. So this was the Anette the radio was talking about. "I think so? This will be our second date, and i am a bit new to these things, so... i do not know?"

"Thanks, Ami. And I'm in 508 if you ever need anything."

She smiled, genuinely, really. "Second date means something for sure. He must really like you, Ami."

Ami smiled. "I hope so. I really like him."

"He is a nice guy." She agreed, hoping Ami didn't listen to the radio.

Ami did. She was just too polite to really mention it. Instead she nodded. "We are in the Forensics class together and last week, he showed me the rocks with the baby seals."

"Baby seals? Aww, that is so sweet, Ami. I am happy for you, really." And Annette would certainly act different around Billy from now on. No more teasing! No sirreee!

"THank you." There was more grinning. "Have you been at this school long? It is hard to figure out who is new and who isn't..."

"This is my first year, so I am really new. I think I have adjusted fairly well so far, given the occassional bouts of weird and abnormal." She laughed.

"What about you?"

"I have only been here a few weeks since i got here, but i think i am adjusting. I appear to have missed the weekend when everyone was not themselves by leaving the island..."

"Ohh, well, you missed something else, let me tell you. It was amazingly strange. Seriously though? I had fun." She grinned wide.

"Yeah? Did you turn into someone else?"

"Ohh no, I just got to watch everyone else. Of course, took me all day to figure out what was going on, and even then I was still confused with some people."

"I would imagine it was not that fun for all the people who got to live with the consequences of the actions of the someone they turned into..."

Annette nodded, thinking of Mr. Phale. "You are right, I am certain that not all of them had a very good time of it."

"I am glad i missed it. Besides it gave me a chance to see Father's new exhibit."

"He is an artist, and his paintings were on a special exhibit in Washington DC"

"A bit of still life and some abstract modern things. I do not get to see him often" she sighed "He tours often and does not live with me and mother anymore."
