In case you hadn't heard, either via the flyers that had been plastered around the dorms, the text messages sent out that morning, the radio or the announcements being made from the desk yesterday, there was a party in the dorms that day! Down by the pool, specifically! With no classes to attend to, all that was left to do was come on down and have a good time!

There were decorations! There was pizza! There were drinks in coconuts, and some music pumping, and none of them had anywhere school-related they needed to be! Time to celebrate another successful semester in the books.

Water you waiting for? Come make a splash!

Having had a great deal of fun 'sneaking' downstairs to the pool, Charlie turned to Graham with a grin. "Ah, nothing like the smell of chlorine in the morning!"

It really was a shame that the pool was used so rarely because it truly was a wonderful place!

"Maybe once we've got you comfortable with swimming we could throw a pool party down here," Charlie suggested.

It was a great place for it, lots of room, little locker rooms for changing or a quick shower afterwards, even a sauna. If only it had a hot tub, the place would be perfect.

But who knew? Maybe there was one hidden away that Charlie just hadn't discovered yet.

"Okay," she said, stripping off her outer garments to reveal a sleek one piece bathing suit which matched her purple hair. "I'm just going to put my clothes in the changing room and then we can get started!"

If today wasn't the sort of day for Astrid to spend floating around in the quiet, cavernous abyss of the dorm's basement pool, she wouldn't know what would be. Because a call had been made and an appointment set, and next week, she would be meeting with none other than Susan D. Valeris, hot shot Hollywood lawyer and headline chaser, with her dark hair and red lips. Susan D. Valeris, the woman who was taking up her mother's case, the woman who was trying to insist that Ingrid was innocent, that she was a victim of a wrongful and deplorable arrest, that she should be free. A woman who wanted Astrid's help in defying the reality that had happened across her very eyes.

All of a sudden, it really did seem long ago. Almost four years now. And memories could be hazy...

But for now, it was just the water beneath her and the innertube that allowed her to drift into the abyss as she stared up at the ceiling and tried not to think, tried not to plan, tried to just put herself in fates hands until Susan said what she had to say and hopefully, Astrid would never have to deal with her or think about Ingrid anywhere else but where she was now ever again.

A Saturday spent bouncing and flying around was… not enough to tire her out. So.

Impromptu party it was!

It was probably best not to think too hard about how Nina had gotten all the towels and drinks and pizza down to the pool or how she sent out a student-wide text—best not to ask how she managed texts either! (The answer was Sir Foomy had helped.)—and stuck up glittery posters all around the dorms announcing the Pony Pool Party.

She even had floats and umbrella'd drinks and music going! How? Don't question it!

Honestly, like, she hoped people showed up but even if they didn't?

Swimming as a pony was totally a blast!

If there was a day for Astrid to start skipping her classes again, she felt like this was going to be the one. She was feeling better that morning, physically, but everything in her head remained a jumbled mess, perhaps more so with the clarity that came with the air that day. She knew it was a habit that she was probably better off not getting back into, but her criminal justice class wasn't even meeting that day, and she didn't feel like sitting around trying to avoid thinking about people while sipping cocoa and talking about a weird little play (that she did actually read). The only reason she'd even want to go to class today was to possibly show Grog the picture that she'd worked on yesterday, the one he'd suggested, but it was just a sketch right now, anyway. This way, she could maybe break out those watercolors she'd gotten for Christmas and actually have it painted by Friday, and she could show him then in shop class instead.

Right now, all she wanted to do was feel weightless and unreal, floating around in the eerie quiet of the pool that no one else seemed to use, or even know was there. Skim her fingers over the surface of the water like dancers, let the tangled knot of her feelings and emotions and thoughts loosen and unravel and spread out, leaving the confined space of her skull to spread out over the water and maybe even sink down deep, deep below.

It felt good, being down here when she should be in class, where she could almost pretend things were still the way they used to be, that maybe everything had been a dream, and she'd just been down in the pool this whole time, and California had never happened, down here where maybe California had never even existed at all..

Things were starting to fall into place; things were starting to feel a little normal...for Fandom, anyway. It was hard to believe it was only a week ago that Astrid had been stuck inside a volcano. And a little more than a week before that, she had been in California, Claire was still alive, and all she really worried about was whether or not Claire would like her Christmas present, although Astrid knew she'd say she loved it, even if she didn't.

And now?

She had a few things she could be doing, she supposed. The wall in the room was still black, still waiting for her to decide what it would be next. She had bought some gloves for work, and some thread to embroider flowers onto them, but for now they were just sitting on her bed. And Astrid herself had gone down to the pool, stretched herself out on a float, and just let it drift around the pool in the dorm basement, two small jewels that she'd taken from the bag in the freezer that she was positive Ron wouldn't even know were gone resting against her eyes.

Just floating, just doing nothing, losing track of the time on a Sunday that seemed too long already.

What was time, anyway?

Not realizing yet that the one class she'd wished to avoid would actually be cancelled that day, Astrid decided she would just go ahead and skip all of her Monday rigmarole, especially if it helped make it seem a bit less like she was singling out any particular class. Part of her wondered if there was much point to skipping, especially since next week was spring break, she could suck it up for another day, but she'd said she was probably going to, and she felt she almost had to, especially if it wound up Mae would join her. Besdies, after the weekend, she felt she needed a skip day for an actual, solid reason now, too. Her head was swimming with her renewed memory, clashing against everything she'd conjectured while her whole life was nothing but a blank slate, an empty canvas that she'd rigerously tried to cover as she poured through all the letters in her desk from her mother, all of her mother's journals, all of her books of poetry, and Astrid's own sketchbooks.

It created a fascinating, brilliant, almost god-like image in her mind of this woman who was supposedly her mother, this effervescant force of nature that seemed mythical and unreal. And even though Astrid tried to search through nearly every line and in between, she couldn't find much of herself in there. There were a few things, here and there, her mother talking about how much she missed her, remincicing about them living in Paris, in Amsterdam, in Mexico; her mother mentioned how Astrid would draw, but she didn't need that clue, she'd already answered that one for herself. There were a few that seemed a little vitriolic, anger over some things she'd done or hadn't done, things she'd taken an interest in: someone named Ray, a decision to dye her hair red, something about homecoming court, pink dresses and hopeful heels. She appeared in a few of the poems, a few journal entries, but alwaya addressed like she was just another one of Ingrid's poems, a work of art, something she created to be beautiful and reflective, another mark left on the world. Though she'd spent all of yesterday, hunched over piles of books and paper loaded on her bed, she'd gone to sleep that night with not much more of an idea of who she was than she'd had when she'd woken up on Saturday.

And when she woke up today...the memories were back, she knew who she was, but that perspective stayed and she started to wonder. Who was she, really? Was Amnesiac Astrid onto something? Was she really anything more than something Ingrid had willed into being, to be a reflection of her own genius, only the problem with a person over a poem is that you couldn't quite just edit and rewrite it to be what you wanted it to be.

So Astrid skipped her classes, she went down to the pool, she swam laps until she felt too tired for more, and then found a floating tube in the supplies closet that she could just settled into and float around in, staring at the ceiling, trying to get her thoughts sorted out and trying to convince herself that she should really get going on that idea to paint the ceiling down here and wondering what color the sky in California would be just then.

Even Sidon had to admit, through all of his hard work and dedication and studying, his ability to read and interpret English writing had improved immensely over the past few weeks. He wasn't exactly ready to sit down and enjoy a lengthy novel or anything like that, but signs were easier and little details here and there like looking into the history of the island and the school and noticing that there was a pool in the basement of the dormitory building. He rather enjoyed the waters around the island for swimming, but he had to admit he was a little curious about this pool and decided to spend his afternoon relaxing in it and enjoying it.

Those plans stemmed from his experiences with pools, which were usually quite naturally occurring in nature, under the shadow of a mountain, or like the one underneath the courtyard in Zora's Domain, where swift-lotus grew and hot-footed frogs swam among the lily pads. It did not take long for his assumptions to start to prove wrong, though, as the building remained very much in that bulky architecture of humans, so different from the delicate and graceful work of the Zora. And then there was the smell. By the goddesses, that smell was one of the most foul things Sidon had ever had the displeasure of smelling, and he had been inside the belly of an octorok before! He hadn't even reached the pool yet, and he already had reservations, thinking of just turning back now and heading for the port instead.

But, no, he was already here, might as well check it out, and then be fully, completely, and wholly disappointed by the large, boring, concrete monstrosity that the pool ended up being. And he realized that the awful smell was coming directly from the water itself. He knelt down beside the pool, dipping a hand in, wincing at the acrid aroma as he lifted the water in his palm to his nose for closer inspection.

And nearly tumbled back from the violent reaction of disgust.

"Poison!" he declared in shock. "This water has been poisoned!"

Someone was not a fan of chlorine.

Now technically, as a resident of the dorms, April had a right to use the pool whenever she wanted, but even so she felt like she was sneaking in somewhere when she stopped by the dorm pool late Friday evening. Maybe it was the fact that it was dark and there was no one around, or maybe it was just lingering trepidation from all the times she had gone sneaking around back at camp last summer.

In any case, she had made up her mind that tonight she was going to deal with all of these extra hormones once and for all by sweating them out in a heated pool. It wasn't her best idea, but so far nothing else had worked. So, she toed off her shoes and socks, stripped off her outerwear leaving just a frilly tankini underneath (you didn't think this law-abiding Lumberjane would skinny-dip in a communal pool, did you?), took a seat on the edge and gingerly slid on in.

It did not have the instantaneous effect on her body that she was looking for, but maybe if she gave it a couple minutes.

Flick didn't often visit this place. In fact, he wasn't sure if he'd ever been there before but first time for everything, right? It was getting a little too cold to go to the beach and Flick wasn't feeling aggressive enough for the gym. So, why not the pool? Exactly why not.

He brought his towel down there and dropped it on one of the chairs near the pool before stretching his arms out and diving in. He dove deep, staying underwater for as long as his lungs would let him before surfacing. He waded for a few moments before going under and letting himself just float there until his lungs burned and he came up for air again.

This time, Flick didn't go back under. He swam lazily around, recalling some of the summers where he and Jude had gotten lucky and were able to go to his father's country club without his father being there. That place always had nice pools and nice people.

Flick moved over to the side of the pool and propped himself up against the edge, kicking his feet and closing his eyes. The water buoyed him and relaxed him, loosening up tense muscles and pulling away at some of his stress.

Isabelle wasn't a big swimmer. It wasn't that she didn't know how or anything (because she did), but just that there it wasn't a very important skill for most Shadowhunters to have, and there wasn't a pool at the Institute. Also, covering up her Marks and scars with glamours to go to a public swimming pool was far too much of a hassle.

And one she hadn't bothered with here. It was Friday evening, and she figured most people had better things to do than go for a swim. She could've thought of a few, but somehow swimming had still won out. Maybe she was saving her ideas for the weekend. Or something else like that. (Or maybe she just liked the calm stillness of it all. Maybe she wanted that right now.) Fact of the matter was that she was here, in a deep red swimsuit that left most of the dark runes and the light scars on her skin exposed. Not that anyone was going to get to look at them for very long.

She dove in and got started on swimming laps, her hair alternating between floating in the water behind her and clinging to her shoulders.

Alec knew what he had been expecting when he arrived at the dorm pool late this afternoon: a pool. With chairs. Maybe a towel rack. Probably without any other students swimming. But all in all, a normal pool environment.

He hadn't been expecting to find all of the above, plus a scruffy, friendly-looking golden retriever puppy happily treading water in the shallow end.

The puppy didn't look hungry or scared about being in the water -- it seemed quite content to be where it was. True, the lack of anyone around who might own the puppy was disconcerting, but some uncertain inspection revealed to Alec that the dog didn't have a collar at all. Just a whole pool to itself, apparently.

It seemed happy to share the pool with Alec, if its happy panting was any indication. But there seemed to be an unspoken agreement about which side was Alec's and which side belonged to the puppy, and Alec was happy to comply with the rule.

He dove into the water and started doing his laps, glad that he and the dog were on the same page.

Okay, hiding out in her room with the A/C cranked wasn't doing a whole lot for Gert. And taking more than one cold shower a day just felt weird. So her new plan was now to hide out in the pool and appreciate the cold water and the chance for some less-than-totally-miserable exercise.

She -- and her admittedly fairly cute bathing suit -- would just be swimming laps now. Like... a lot of laps. Like, almost a worrying amount of laps? Gert was really not having a great week.

Today was the first day Ender had felt remotely like himself enough to leave his room. He'd spent a good portion of the previous two days sleeping, and his muscles were starting to experience phantom aches from disuse and very real aches from being stuck in bed for too long.

Of course, that meant that when he finally did go to get exercise, there had to be sharks.

Ender observed the scene for a few moments, nonplussed.

Then he realized he could only see the fins, and they didn't seem to be going under. He sighed, padded towards the water, and waited until the fins were on the other side of the water before poking it with his toe. It'd help if he knew what he was dealing with.

...and then there was nothing.

"Well," he muttered, "That's convenient."

A moment later, he was sliding into the pool, and there was no sign of sharks at all. Fandom. Really.

One of the many little things Cara still wasn't used to on the island was chlorinated water, so usually when she wanted to cool off she just went to the beach, but the problem there was the weather lately meant she'd just end up hot and sticky again by the time she got back to the dorms.

That she could have avoided some of that simply by not wearing her leathers had occurred to her, and been summarily dismissed, because... reasons.

So instead she was down in pool, swimming laps and occasionally making faces at the chemical smell and taste of the water.

It was warm enough to head to the beach but Percy wasn't feeling like walking all the way into town today. He still wanted to be in the water but the beach meant sand in his shoes and salt water in his eyes. Of course, chlorine wasn't much better but it was closer.

So, Percy took himself down to the pool and, after stripping down to his swimsuit, jumped in. He did a few lazy laps, just enjoying how being in the water immediately made him feel stronger and more at home. After those laps, he let himself sink down to the bottom of the pool.

And that's where he was now, just sitting cross legged on the bottom of the pool, having no problems with that whole breathing thing.

That morning Ender had received four phone calls from Peter.

Three had come from Fandom's Peter, and in all cases Peter had hung up before Ender managed to even answer the call. The third was from his own Peter, calling in to confirm he'd be showing up and he'd be taking Petra and Suriyawong with him.

Ender's opinion of these events was mixed - though he would hardly say no to a chance to see Petra and Surrey again, the rest was a little more complicated.

Luckily, his regular morning swim always allowed for a good opportunity to clear his head. He made it there early so that he'd have some more time today, quickly stripping down to his swim trunks and diving in.

If there was one thing he'd miss about Fandom in the near future, it would be the easy pool access.

Some days, you just had to crawl out of bed, take off your moping pants, and do something. Anything. Whatever. Today, Karla decided that the thing she was going to do was swim until she was exhausted. The beach being too full of memories, she headed to the pool at the dorms instead.

The pool was nice. Quiet. Just her and the water and lap after endless lap. Maybe if she tired herself out enough, she'd be able to sleep tonight. And then tomorrow, she'd help...research or whatever everyone was doing. Make herself useful. Something.

So much for starting her summer by never leaving the beach! While Ariel certainly had no problem swimming in colder water (what? You think it's warm at the bottom of the ocean?), she did have a problem with the fact that, by now, she'd planned to soak up a lot of nice warm sand and she was heavily behind on her quota. It would have truly sunk her mood if it wasn't for the excitement of all the new kids keeping her afloat.

Still, she just couldn't stand it anymore, so, feeling the need to swim, she grabbed her sea shells, her cute green bikini bottom, and a really fluffy bright towel and headed downstairs that evening to hit up the pool. Sometimes, the chlorine bothered her, but she did love how deep it was, and the incredibly comforting, weightless feeling of being surrounded by water. It was a feeling of home, and it had been a while since she'd really gotten to just spend a long time swimming around.

The creatures from yesterday hadn't left the pool yet. They seemed quite happy in the chlorinated environment in a way that would make biologists foam at the mouth. But then again, that was the logic of a video game for you.

You just went with it.

There were, however, shiny bits of gold at the bottom of the pool for any brave student who wished to make a dive for them. Gold or the embarrassment of ending up in the lobby. It was a tough choice,

Whether they had snuck in through the pipes, or simply flickered into existence over night was hard to tell - they certainly weren't going to tell you. (Mostly because at least half of them had no mouths to speak of, and the other half had, quite literally, the brains of a goldfish.)

The pool, once such a peaceful part of the dorms, had been transformed. Now, winged Cheep-Cheeps leapt up above the water, and Bloobers slipped silently underwater. Liquid splashed across the tiles surrounding the pool, disturbed by the commotion.

After meeting Leander earlier in the day, Percy wasn't about to stick around his room and wait for more kids to find him. He'd herded Leander (and dragged Jason along with them since he was the other dad) down to the pool since any kid of his probably liked the water.

Once down there, he'd taken the time to call Luke and both invited him and told him to find Nico since it wasn't like Percy could snap a note up to Ethan's mother. Sure, neither Luke or Nico were big fans of the water but wasn't a pool supposed to be a good way to entertain kids so their parents could spend time beating their heads into the walls or something?"

Percy wasn't sure but being around the water relaxed him enough that he either thought he could deal with the horde of demigod kids or he could make Jason or Nico or Luke deal with it because he had the water as backup. One or the other.

With all his classes done by Tuesday, Ender had rather a lot of time on his hands. (He was a nerd, yes, but at least he had a goal in mind.)

That didn't mean it wasn't nice to keep to schedule. Outside of his daily trip to the gym, the pool filled up the physical part of his daily schedule, and it was always nice to be back here.

He dove deep under the water as soon as he came in, pushing himself down until he was so deep that gravity almost-- almost seemed to cease to exist. He stayed there for as long as he could, cherishing the quiet, the calming effect it had on his thoughts.

He came back up for air, and started his laps. He'd be fit and ready to get back to work in an hour or so, but right now he was going to enjoy the exercise.

It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

She did not, however, expect this. It was only supposed to be a costume of a mermaid. She wasn't supposed to actually turn into one again!

Hopefully, it would just be temporary, but she managed to make her way down to the nearest body of water and plunged in with a sigh of relief. Luckily, the costume must have been made with pool mermaids in mind. Despite the pool being just a few floors down from his room, Jonas hadn't yet made his way down here. For one, he knew the very basics of swimming and for two, well, he was shy. Still, coming to find the pool empty for the moment meant it was a little easier to get out of his shirt and step into the pool.

The water was warm enough and Jonas waded in till it hit the top of his chest. Swimming wasn't needed when he was tall enough to touch the bottom. For now, that was as far as he'd go. He had time to do more if he felt confident enough. He splashed some water on his face and then ducked down enough to get his hair wet.

It was a relatively new experience for him. There hadn't been much time for swimming back in the Community. Time was spent learning or volunteering. Recreational time was limited and tended to be spent playing games that made Jonas' stomach turn when he thought about them now.

Ender's form cut gracefully through the water as he pushed off, his head dipping under, submersing him in a state of near-weightlessness. He tried to focus on little more than that: the water, his movements, the steadily building muscle in his arms pressing against the friction. He was slowly starting to grow into his adult body; the soldier's musculature was starting to look less strange and out of place by the day.

He wasn't a soldier anymore, though. Or maybe he was, but in a bigger war, a different one than one just fought with fists and firepower and blood. She hit the lights, and grinned as the pool lit up, dropping her towel and cover-up onto a nearby chair, then kicked off her flip-flops. "High dive, low dive, lanes. Pretty much a standard pool. All rumors of sharks have yet to be anything more than stories.

She was by the swimming pool again. She'd arrived early even before the sun rose.

"You shouldn't be afraid of the water."

Azula narrowed her eyes. Wonderful. She was back.

Her mother sat on one of the benches still wearing the voluminous royal robes. "You could change your clothes once in a while."

"I could," her mother agreed, "but as you kept insisting, I am only a figment of your imagination. My appearance is dependent on you."

Azula rolled her eyes, "Whatever."

She faced the pool and studied the water. This time she didn't leap into the water instead she slid one leg then the other before slowly lowering herself into the pool. She braced herself for the onslaught of memories but to her surprise, none came.

Maybe the trigger was full immersion?

"See?" Her mother's voice said again, "It wasn't so hard, was it?"

Azula scowled, "Oh, shut-up, mother."

Azula stared at the pool.

Despite popular belief Firebenders did not hate water. The Fire Nation was surrounded by water hating it would be as useless as hating the air or the earth instead her people took to the water as they would anything -- they conquered and mastered the waters until the Fire Nation Navy became the unquestioned masters of the sea.

It was an accomplishment the Waterbenders, the purported Masters of Water, could not rival.

Azula thought this was one of the things she shared with her countrymen but now all Azula could do was stare at the swimming pool with clenched fists.

It was date number three and that was just so very oh em gee and Jean might need to call Kitty or maybe talk to Emma about how well this was going. Because Jean was a moron.

Though, maybe radio counted as number three...

No, no. This was the date.

So there Jean was, in a bikini, waiting for the most innocent date ever.

[[Jean is there for Fancy Feast. But post is open.]]

There were no objects Ender felt more than the most superficial care for, which meant that this weekend's bout of strangeness had, so far, passed him by entirely. Instead he'd made his way down to the pool for his usual exercise, towel in hand and ready to give in to some mindless physical pursuits.

He slid slowly into the water with a sigh, embracing the near lack of gravity for a few split seconds of utter nostalgia. Then, he pushed off from the wall and cut through the water, one long motion after the other. He was thinking about space again, and distances; it was obvious that this term wouldn't allow him much in terms of mental exercise on the topic, but he was used to making his own fun by now.

Valentine figured she was pretty good at hiding the fact that she'd been pretty disquieted over the last few days. She had multiple theories that easily explained it well enough that she could shove it aside and not directly approach the topic. She was good at that, avoiding something until she was sure it could be useful to her. But the fact that she couldn't quite piece together how what she was feeling could be useful to her lead her to wanting to step back from it all for a moment.

She decided to go down to the pool, figuring it would be quiet in the morning, and she could just sit a while, thinking, comforted by the water and what water meant to her now. She considered ducking into town to pick up a swimsuit that was a little...more interesting than hers, basic and functional, but then settled on the fact that basic and functional was all that was needed. Anything something more interesting would accomplish would be to draw attention to certain aspects of herself...

...and she wasn't quite knowledgeable enough about those aspects to go flashing them around for other people to see, really. That's why she was here now, in the morning after her class, sitting at the edge of the pool and watching her feet trail through the water, enjoying the isolation of the big empty room and thinking about isolation in a lake basin on a raft.

It was a good way to kill the morning hours.

Brooke got back to the dorms late, and still needing to work off some energy, she decided to go ahead and head down to the pool. Not only was it exercise, but maybe the cooler water would help her out some.

Of course, who knew how long the bathing suit would stay on once she'd started swimming the length of the pool. And yes, she knew about the cameras, she just figured whoever was watching the feed might need a treat.

[Open! Yes I'm posting again. Deal. I'm bored and I think most people are ICly doing it which means I have to make my own fun.]

KKG Meeting:The Pool

John had scrubbed for what seemed like hours this morning and yet he still felt unclean after last night's...thing with Gavin.

Also, his back was freaking killing him. That bastard was heavy as hell!

So the KKG had been given notice that they were meeting in the pool today where there could be relaxing and stretching. No snacks, but there were plenty of rafts, floaties, and noodles to play with. Not dirty. Ew.

The day had flown by, and before she knew it, Hinata and Amber, who’d cut out of rehearsal early (small sacrifices), were down in the pool area and setting up the decorations for Turtle’s (hopefully) surprise birthday party. Streamers and balloons in gold, green, and purple matched the tablecloths, disposable plates and utensils. Colour co-ordination was a go.

It took them awhile to get things all set up, but eventually it was accomplished, and a sign at the door to the pool proclaimed ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TURTLE!!!’ in, of course, green and gold glitter.

[Amber totally modded with permission, up way early for SP. Annnnnd please wait for the OCD is uuuup! The email that sent out invitations is here.

Hannibal had found the pool! There were floaties and it was all shallow and it was warm and Hannibal never knew you could go swimming when it was cold outside. He looked down at himself, at his mud covered clothes and just decided they do.

He took off his shoes and socks, grabbed an innertube and took off towards the pool. "Cannonball!" He'd heard that shouted on television enough.

And, with a HUGE splash, he hit the water and started swimming around.

[Ooooooopen pool for the mud covered kids! Floaties are moddable and the pool is shallow for the tiny needs!]

Hurley had made arrangements with Penelope, for a sort of date this evening. She'd never been swimming, so it seemed like a good idea to get her acclimated to the idea. Hurley was already in the water, just sort of floating. He wasn't much of a swimmer, himself. But he could manage.

[ooc: Expecting the date, but open pool!]

He hadn't spoken to a lot of people lately: just Ben, and their usual bounce-off-bounce-on of tactics and stories from different lifetimes and banter, the kind kids their age were supposed to have. Ender didn't mind the quiet, as it gave him time for his thoughts, which had been a jumble of things lately.

Cut for tl;dr )

Ben really wanted to be at the gym, but even he wasn't stubborn enough to punch a bag when his joints weren't fully healed.

Floating in the water was better for that, even if he looked a little ridiculous wearing a shirt and long pants. The scars the Embrace of Pain had left weren't for other people to stare at, he'd decided.

He closed his eyes and enjoyed the silence.

[OOC: Naturally, the silence doesn't have to last. Open!]

It was way past dark when Ender entered the pool area, his towel still loosely in hand. Way past dark, and well towards the night, quiet as anything ever was. He liked it that way. It still poked at old memories that weren't really that bad, when everything was said and done.

He slipped into the pool without a dive this time, shifting onto his back, and pushed off the edge with his feet. The friction stopped him after a while, not quite like zero-G, but it'd been close enough before and it was close enough now.

He closed his eyes and just enjoyed the water for once.

Maybe it'd wash out the sparkles.

[ open pool area! ]

He had hoped for a quiet swim the previous day, but it hadn't been what life had planned. While the encounter with Romeo hadn't been unpleasant, Ender had still felt a faint twinge of a wish for privacy in the pool.

The morning usually granted him that much.

He dove deep under the surface of the water, propelling himself forward until he didn't, spinning instead, well-muscled limbs slicing through it with an odd sense of elegance. For a moment, he could imagine himself weightless. Far away. Somewhere close to some mythical place called home.

Then his lungs burned: time was up. He struggled to the surface, gasping for breath until he could do it again.

[ open pool, yep. ]

Romeo Montague did not exercise as a rule. It seemed like a great deal of effort for little gain. But even after the healing rain in Edge he could tell his left arm and shoulder were still wrong from the break and their time in the sling. They felt weak and stiff and uncoordinated, especially when he was tired.

That wouldn't do.

He made his way to the basement pool after literature class, carrying a towel and a small stereo. He put a Kanye West CD in the player, dove into the water, and started dragging himself through as many laps as he could stand.

[OOC: Open!]
[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com
Hannibal had no idea how long he was going to be a girl but he'd be damned if he wasn't going to take advantage of it. He'd never been down to the pool and it seemed like the best place to go to both relax and show off the body he was beginning to really, really love.

One swimsuit and one towel later, he was down at the pool, testing the water with his legs. It was cool but he knew he'd get to used it. Still, no reason to rush.

[OPEN. Like I wasn't going to take advantage of the image of Tricia Helfer in a swimsuit!]
