Coming up with an idea for a present for Valentine's day was much harder than Teddy thought it would be. He was sitting cross legged on the couch, notebook in his lap, trying to come up with an idea of what to get Chad.

A romantic comedy was on TV and Teddy was hoping for some brilliant inspiration to come from watching it. His only idea so far was a teddy bear and he had to beat his head against the arm of the couch for thinking of something so corny.

Stupid holidays.

Cassie came into the common room with lace doilies, construction paper, scissors, glitter, glue, and markers.

"I feel like I'm twelve... which, okay, yeah, not that long ago, shut up."

Teddy grinned. "I wasn't going to say anything."

"Yeah, yeah," Cassie said. "Suuuuure you weren't."

"You've got one up on me with the Valentines," Teddy replied, raising he hands in defense. "I'm probably going to just pick up something from Turtle&Canary to hand out. So, if you get a Ratman Valentine, you'll know who it's from."

"You know, I have more than enough stuff for just me," Cassie said.

Teddy eyed the lace warily. "But, lace. Let me keep some of my masculinity, will you?"

"You don't have to use that bit," Cassie said. "D'uh."

With another look at the lace, Teddy sighed and set his notebook aside. "As long as you promise no lace."

"There's construction paper without any lace," Cassie reiterated. "It's only as girly as you make it, dork."

Teddy took the mature way out of the conversation and stuck his tongue out at Cassie.

"What are you doing for Valentine's?"

"Wishing certain people weren't evil and in the future," Cassie said.

Wow, this wasn't awkward at all.

"Did you want to hang out?" Teddy offered. "We can watch crappy romance movies and mock them and eat chocolate."

"Don't you have a boyfriend to be spending time with who isn't Billy, you jerk?" Cassi asked.

"He works until midnight so, yeah I was going to go out with him Thursday night."

"Oh, ouch," Cassie said. "So yeah, I can do the hanging out thing. Guess I don't have anyone else to spend the day with."

"It'll be fun!" Teddy said. "I'll get a bunch of chocolate for us."

"Definitely fun," Cassie said. "Platonic fun, exactly what the day was meant for."

"Aw, come on!" Teddy said, poking Cassie's shoulder lightly. "Having a date just makes the day even more stressful."

"Yeah," Cassie said, starting to make a valentine. "Would be nice, though."

"Okay, how about this, we go to Caritas and look for a guy for you," Teddy suggested. "How does that sound?"

"I... think I'll stick with the staying in," Cassie said.

"But you just said that you wanted a date," Teddy replied.

This was another reason why he was glad he was gay. Guys were much less confusing.

"I also don't want the embarrassment of looking pathetic in public on Valentine's," Cassie said.

"You won't look pathetic," Teddy replied. "There are plenty of people who won't have a date Wednesday. Not everyone is hooked up, contrary to what the radio would have you believe."

"Yeah," Cassie said. She started writing on the Valentine she was making. Teddy might notice the name 'Peter' at the top of it.
