Roof: Tuesday all day

Blair had successfully avoided talking about anything Miranda-related for all of Monday. Hanging around River long enough had taught him how to push things to the back of his mind fairly well. Knowing that it couldn't last forever he made his way to the roof with a blanket and took a seat where he could see the grounds.

The height didn't thrill him that much, but it seemed like a convenient place to be by himself but still see hear the sounds of people being alive. After Miranda, he wasn't so interested in finding silence.

"Doesn't that bother you?" Blair asked, turning to look at her. "That I don't love that part of you?"

"Yes," River said. There was no point in lying. "But I've never expected someone to love that part. It's not loveable, just useful."

"You deserve to have all of you loved." Blair said sadly. "Someone who love everything about you."

River raised her head and sat up straight. "Not sure even Simon loves all of me."

"I don't know about that." Blair said, looking seriously at River. "To me he always seemed like there was nothing about you that he didn't love."

She smiled, but it wasn't a happy smile. "I'm still his mei-mei, always will be."

She tried shielding herself from Blair's thoughts and feelings, but it didn't quite work.

"I didn't kill those people on Miranda. And I could protect the people I care about."

"You killed the reavers." Blair said quietly, images of the fight in his brain. "I'm grateful that you saved us...but it was pretty gruesome."

He tried not to think about looking at River at the end of fight, covered in blood.

She kept herself from flinching at his feelings. "Killing is gruesome."

Blair just nodded. He didn't know what to say to that.

River quietly shook the blanket off her shoulders and leaned closer, giving Blair a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving him there. She had a feeling he needed to think, and that her listening to his thoughs might not be a good thing.
