5th Floor Common Room [Evening]

After stowing Jeremiah's tank and Xander's knapsack in 227, Bridge and Xander head off in search of spaghetti. Why didn't they just use the Synthetron? Well, spaghetti's like toast. It's more fun to make it yourself.

As luck would have it, the only Common Room kitchen currently stocked with any spaghetti noodles is the one on the fifth floor. So here they are. Making dinner.

"Well we've got some of those," Bridge says, pointing. "If you wash your hands, you can put the mushrooms in if you want," he promises.

"OKAY!" Xander scrambles down from his stool and runs over to the sink. ....And stares up at it.

"Uh oh," Bridge says. Leaving the stove (but still keeping an eye on it) he moves over to the sink and picks up Xander so he can reach the tap. "Better?"

"YUP!" Not that Xander still thinks being picked up is the Coolest Ever because obviously that's for little kids except he totally does.

There's splashing.

A lot of splashing.

Too bad it doesn't mean he won't need a bath tonight, for he has not helped mash garlic, yet.

"All right," says Bridge, who by virtue of holding the person doing the splashing, has gotten rather splashed himself. "Mushrooms!" and he carries Xander over to where the chopped-up mushrooms are on the counter.

Xander scoops them up. It takes both hands. Possibly there's some smooshing. "They go in th'sauce now?"

"That's right!" Bridge says. "Ready?"

"YUP!"

"One, two, three..." Bridge says, once they're standing over the sauce pot. "And... go!"

Xander let go and dumped all the smooshed mushrooms into the pot. "Did I do it right?"

"You did *perfect*," Bridge says proudly. Smooshed mushrooms don't really matter. It's not like small children and teenagers *really* care about presentation when it comes to food.
