Miley was bored. Bored enough that she actually opened one of her school books to study.

That was enough to convince her that she was in serious need of some TV time. So she flopped onto the couch in the common room and started flipping channels.

"Oooh! Hollywood scandals!"

"I can be nice!" Conner exclaimed. "I can totally be nice! Watch!"

Under his breath, he added, "Unless you're Anders, but then it's just funny . . ."

"Wow." Miley blinked. "I should have asked for something more than you just being nice. I'll have to remember that the next time I have food to bribe you with."

"I don't think I've met Anders yet."

"I'm always bribable with food," Conner assured her. "Well, food or dates with cute girls."

He snickered. "Put it this way. If a guy comes in here trying to kill me? You'll know you met him."

"Food I can handle." Miley laughed. "Not sure about my supply of cute girls."

"What'd you do to make him want to kill you?"

"Found this CD a few days ago," Conner said, snickering, "by this band called Du Jour, and they had this 'Backdoor Lover' song that I had to, like, sing at Caritas and say was about him."

"Oh my god." Miley's eyes widened and she giggled. "That's awesome. You're so going to die. But it's awesome. Your name will live on."

Conner snorted. "He'd have to catch me first, and good luck with that."

Remembering something, he did a goofy dance in his seat and added, "Besides, my secret admirer would totally kick his ass for trying anything."

"Oh, you have a secret admirer?" Miley leaned forward excitedly. "How cool!"

"Looks like I do. Got a super-gushy note on my door and everything." Conner was totally preening. "She thinks I rock."

"Wow. That's pretty cool." Miley smiled. "Do you have any idea who it is?"

"Not a clue," Conner replied. "I can think of a few people it's probably not, but I might start going door to door to ask if I don't figure out soon."

"Door to door? You need to be sneakier than that." Miley nodded. "Have some of friends start asking the girls questions. The whole, do you think my friend is cute shtick."

"I never thought of that. But I'm sorta used to being the first one to go after the girls instead of the other way around," Conner mused. "Think I could bribe them with cookies?"

"Cookies are always good." Miley said and then paused at the pizza arrived. Moving the boxes closer to Conner, she shrugged. "Usually any type of food will work though."

"Like pizza," Conner declared as he snagged a nice gooey slice. "Some people are easy. Like, I know I'd do almost anything if you offered me food."
