Miley was bored. Bored enough that she actually opened one of her school books to study.

That was enough to convince her that she was in serious need of some TV time. So she flopped onto the couch in the common room and started flipping channels.

"Oooh! Hollywood scandals!"

Turtle shrugged. "I haven't seen you in, like, forever, so you never know."

"Yeah, I was kinda out of town all last weekend," Conner explained. "My brother Eric's a rollerblader -- oh, sorry, 'inline skater.'" He rolled his eyes as he made the airquotes.

"He had a competition up in Boston and I went to go check it out."

"Yeah?" Turtle's head tilted. "How did he do for his 'inline skater' competition?"

She did the airquotes, too.

"He kicked some ass," Conner said happily. "Came in third in half-pipe and made the semis in slalom. Which is really impressive if you realize that he's a total klutz without skates on."

Turtle wasn't sure she understood most of that. She decided that it probably didn't matter. "Cool. I'm glad he did well. Did you have a good time going to see it?"

"Oh, yeah. Had a blast. Also, I learned that I suck on a skateboard, so maybe I can claim it was a field trip?" Conner shrugged. He'd used worse excuses, god knows.

Turtle's head tilted. "...how is sucking on a skateboard and field trips related in any way, shape, or form?"

"Because finding out that I should never do it again is an educational experience," Conner said instantly.

Hey, it made sense to him.

"Ohhhhhhh!" It totally made sense to Turtle now, too. She grinned. "Awesome."

"Glad you think so," Conner said brightly. "I am kinda awesome, just not on a skateboard."

"Kinda awesome?" Turtle gave Conner a skeptical look that more than just suggested that kinda so didn't cover it and she beamed at him a little before a small sigh. Definately more than just kinda awesome.

It's quite possible that boys with easily-stroked egos hi, not dirty kthx should not hang around Turtle if they want to be able to continue to get through doorways without cranial cramping.

"Okay," Conner amended. "I'm extremely awesome."

It only worked if they were jocks and they stayed clear of the braid. Otherwise, the trouble with getting through doorways would come through limping.

She smirked at the alteration and nodded, satisfied. "'Zactly."

And couldn't help another small sigh. Maaan, Conner was cute...
