Fourth floor common room: Quite early Sunday morning

Mice, as it turned out, weren't big on sleeping for long stretches at a time. This explained why Jack had squeezed under Cedric's door, exploring his way down the hallway, sniffing at each door until he ended up in the common room.

It took awhile, but he eventually managed to climb up onto the couch and scamper over to the remote control. //Okay, I can do this.//

Bouncing up and down on the power button eventually turned the TV on, and he used both paws to change the channel. He paused, twitching his whiskers, as the screen was suddenly filled with mice. Cute mice. //The Saviours, huh?//

Jack curled up on top of the remote to watch the story of two heroic mice, who obviously had a severe case of UST, nibbling on a bit of popcorn he'd found under one of the pillows.

[ooc: Open, of course!]

After spending a fairly relaxing evening watching TV the night before, Neil found himself awake early on Sunday. It was really nice to wake up to snow falling and the New Englander decided that breakfast this morning absolutely had to include pancakes as well as bacon and oatmeal.

Unfortunately, if there was the makings for pancakes down on the third floor, he couldn't find it so he was currently floor raiding in the search of the ingredients for pancakes.

He was a little surprised to find the TV on and no one stirring except the mouse. Figuring that maybe it had gotten left on last night, he reached over the back of the couch to find the remote and found the remote, bemoused.

"Uhm..." Neil said a little perplexed and as he was about to try to shoo the mouse away he remembered the white crow from earlier in the week.

"You weren't a crow, earlier this week by any chance, were you?"

Peter wasn't usually up for early mornings on a Sunday, but on the other hand he was hungry.

"Neil! Tell me you're cooking. I'm prepared to beg if I have to."

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Deciding that it was not wise to arm wrestle a mouse for the remote, Neil was prepared the leave the mouse and the remote alone -after all, the cartoon was kinda cute- and so he was making his way on towards the cupboard when he heard Peter's voice.

Turning with a warm smile, he waved at his classmate.

"Morning, Peter. Well...you can't have a snowy morning without pancakes, bacon, oatmeal and toast." He said, an impish light hitting his dark eyes. "But the begging could be interesting."

No...Neil was woefully behind on the ability to speak mouse, crow or...well pretty much any language except English.

Still, a headshake was fairly universal and since the mouse seemed to understand him, Neil figured ...

Yeah okay he had no idea what he figured but it seemed a good idea to offer the mouse some breakfast.

"Hungry?"

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is going against years of history of me eating Pop Tarts," Peter said. "But I can help you out with the coffee if you want."

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, that was a pretty easy response to understand and Neil chuckled and held out his hand.

"Come on up, would you like some pancakes? Do mice eat bacon?"

Nodding Peter towards the coffee pot, Neil grinned.

"It's all you. Be right back."

Making a quick trip back down to three to get his favorite skillet and the pound of bacon he'd picked up at the store, Neil returned to the 4th floor prepared to cook up here.

"How have you been doing?" He asked Peter as he started getting ready to cook. Pancakes were not something he usually made but the directions on the box were fairly straight forward.

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can't complain," Peter said. While Neil was gone he'd set up the coffee to perk. "Looking forward to having the week - oh! Hey! Hold still. There's a mouse over there."

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Walking over to the counter with the mouse, Neil wasn't quite sure how to interpret the nod so he figured he'd make the mouse a plate with choices.

"Hey, I need my hand. You wanna supervise from the counter or from my shoulder?"

Strangely enough, it seemed perfectly natural to talk to the mouse, even if he couldn't completely understand the squeaks being issued in return.

Tracking along with the discussion of spring break, Neil was a beat behind Peter when the other teen exclaimed about the mouse.

"Wha? Mo...Oh! I think it's a student." He said in a tone that did not entirely convey conviction, since Neil wasn't certain if it was a student mascarading as a mouse or a really smart mouse who might legitimately be a student at Fandom High.

That look? Very much like if Peter was wondering if Neil was drunk. "We have mice that go to this school?"

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Neil chuckled as little mousie whiskers tickled his fingers, then he stood still till the mouse had transfered himself securely up to a flannel covered shoulder.

"Okay, no tickling my neck." He warned with a good natured grin, starting to cook up some mouse sized portions of pancake and bacon.

"Would you like something to drink? Uh...water? Juice?" ... oh why the hell not. "Coffee? Squeak once for water, twice for juice and three for coffee."

There was a Quack Stew joke in there somewhere.

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Neil returned a look that said even drunk he couldn't come up with half of Fandom's realities.

"Well, I played dead for a class and one of the students was a little pink kitten. I met a white crow on the roof last week who was interested in my Bardspeare book, I mean like...read it with me interested. So...why not a mouse?"

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"...kay." Because really, how could you argue that?

Peter raked a hand through his hair and kept watching the mouse. "Think it's a shapeshifter? I know Teddy can change shape."

Jaye's gotten to the crabby point of her week, ready to just veg and do nothing till the Oscars come on and she can veg in her room, mocking people's dresses over the phone.

And there's a mouse. Jaye's also gotten to the point of her stay at Fandom High where she just says, "Hey, how's it going."

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I...actually have no idea, Teddy can what?" Neil said and then held up a hand in a gesture of no, don't try to explain, my brain needs coffee first.

"Seems to be a nice enough mouse and has pretty good taste in TV shows."

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm gonna try something," Peter decided.

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Coming through loud and clear!" Neil said with a good natured chuckle. "Coffee first thing."

Reaching up he gave the little mouse a quick scritch with his fingers and then tackled how exactly to get coffee to the mouse. A traditional mug would be hard for a mouse to drink comfortably out of and coffee was meant to be enjoyed in a lesuirely manner.

"Hmmm." Neil pondered the situation then began to rumage in the drawers. Finding broad head spatula, he grinned and then reached for a bowl. Carefully pouring some coffee into the bowl, he braced the bowl in a corner of the counter and then set the spatula so it made a little ramp up to the steaming coffee.

"There we go. Do you need anything in your coffee? Milk or sugar?" He offered as he lowered his arm so the mouse could get to the coffee bowl.

[identity profile] iftheseshadows.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh...okay." Neil said in a curious tone and he turned to keep an eye on Peter.
