Roof, Sunday evening - Memorial Service

While the weather had been snowy all day, the area near Bel's garden was free of snow tonight. The space around the roof held a touch of warmth and there was no wind to blow out the candles that flickered in the dusk.

A table by the door held candles for people to hold and a picture of Bel. Blair had found a fairly decent photo from the time in the cabins and while Bel wasn't exactly smiling into the camera, he wasn't glaring either.

"I've tried telling her that there are plenty of people who care about her and want her around," Veronica said. "But she doesn't seem to believe that either."

"I'm not sure us talking to her is gonna fix this." Xander stuck his hands in his suit pockets. "Wish I knew what would."

"Well, she's good at hunting and fighting," Xander said thoughtfully, "but there's not a lot of that going unless you're in the demon-slaying business, and that would put her right back around Angel where I think we all agree she doesn't need to be. Even if we sent her to my dimension, sooner or later there'd be one of him around that she'd have to deal with."

"What about moving back here?" Veronica suggested. "There would surely be something she could do here. And she'd have the bonus of having you and Bridge and Parker around."

"She says no - that there's nothing for her here." And there's also the Ares problem but Xander doesn't know about that yet, dammit. Xander shook his head. "I think it might remind her too much of when she was with Angel? She wasn't doing real great here the summer before I left."
