The roof, Sunday afternoon
Based on experience, Nadia knew she could still play the guitar, albeit carefully, when she was wearing the shoulder brace.
And since she'd been up half the night riding an emotional roller coaster between joy of having her hand be firmly attached as it was supposed to be, worry and angst over Walter still not being back and whether or not he'd still want to be her boyfriend when he got back, pain, and a very bizarre friskiness, she felt the need for something that reflected those feelings.
So she was sitting in a corner of the roof, wearing the giant, blue, faux-fur muff down over her eyes, and playing They Might Be Giants.
Don't-don't-don't let's start,
This is the worst part,
Could believe for all the world
that you were my precious little girl
But don't-don't-don't let's start,
I've got a weak heart,
and I don't get around how you get around.
When you are alone, you are the cat, you are the phone, you are an animal.
Words I'm singing now mean nothing more than "meow" to an animal.
Wake up and smell the cat food in your bank account,
Don't try to stop the tail that wags the hound.
D. World Destruction.
O.ver and overture,
N. Do I Need
Apostrophe T. Need this Torture?
Don't-don't-don't let's start,

No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful.
Everybody dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful.
They want what they're not and I wish they would stop
Singing Deputy Dawg dog a ding dang depadepa
Deputy Dawg dog a ding dang depadepa,

She could think of nothing better to go with her mood than depressing lyrics to a bouncy tune, played while wearing a ridiculous hat.

She didn't think she'd ever be able to get the image of her stumpy wrist, her hand falling to the sand, out of her mind.

She took another long drag and held it for as long as she could, then huffed it out when she felt herself trying to cough.
"'s stupid."

There was a pause. "...if he's fighting beside his ex and wondering what the hell he's doing with someone like me instead..."

And he never thought he'd be saying that about anything from Mexico...

He was going to say more. A lot more. But decided that he wasn't high enough right now...probably could never get high enough to bring himself to say what he was thinking at that moment.

...Yeah, it was starting to kick in a bit.

Although, briefly as he drew in some more, he entertained the morbid idea of Nadia's hand falling off and taking on a life of its own. It wasn't that strange, really, especially around here...
