2nd Floor Common room, Wednesday After Clubs

Valentine was partaking his his usual, 'hello world, I'm bored and attention deficit' pastime.
He was lounging on the common room couch, bowl of popcorn in his lap, and flipping through the channels without rhyme or reason.
His important discovery of the day was that sometimes, the dialog would piece itself together in new and amusing ways.
"Oh, Pete, I never realized that--" someone on a soap opera would croon until he switched the channel, "--the female hyena was often confused for the male because of their pseudo--" click "Oscar Mayer Weiner! Everyone would be in love with me!"
He was having a grand old time.

Rikku was passing by and couldn't help but hear the ... almost-conversations coming from the teevee thing.

She poked her head in the doorway. "What in the world are you watching!?"

"A little bit of everything," Valentine replied, flipping back to the soap opera only to discover, to his woe, that Pete was leaving the hyena because of the horrible Oscar Mayer love triangle that he had just discovered. He looked over his shoulder with a smirk. "Television is more interesting this way."

Rikku giggled. "It is! This looks fun." She hopped down on the couch. "Mind if I join you?"

Valentine shrugged and changed the channel again for good measure. "It's a free couch, feel free to take a seat."

"Did you want some hot cocoa, too?" Turtle offered the other girl as the drink came closer to being ready.

Rikku looked up and grinned appreciatively. "Oooh, really? Thank you, yes!"

"I feel bad! He has popcorn and you have cocoa and I didn't bring any snacks at all."

"Eh, don't worry about it," Turtle shrugged and grabbed another mug for Rikku. "Let's just say you owe us next time, then."

Turtle might have closed the store a little bit early to make it back before the rain got too bad, and came into the common room still shaking the rain off of her, and went immediately to the cupboards to look for some hot cocoa to make. She sneezed a little before asking, "Anything good on, Weird Mask Guy Number Three?"

Valentine clicked the channel and shrugged. "It's common knowledge that there's never anything good on the television on rainy days, Crazy Shin Kicking Girl Number One. But it all seems more interesting if you mash it together a bit."

Turtle grinned at the nickname. "Is that so?" she asked, idly, rhetorically. "You want some of this hot cocoa? I'm in a good mood, so I won't even charge you."

"I'd have to be insane to turn down cocoa that I haven't been charged for." He paused, quirking his head slightly. "Is there a catch?"

Nova had decided to visit the second floor common room today. Near the television seemed like the place to be so he found a spot on the floor and settled down in a quiet like manner.

Valentine passed the popcorn bowl to Nova and changed the channel.
He approved of this kid. This kid wore a mask. This kid actually seemed rather normal to him.
"Hello there, my most favored juggling student. How goes your day?"

Nova accepted a handful of popcorn from his juggling sensei. The handful disappeared into the dark of his hood, and where it when from there was anybody's guess.

"Good," he replied simply between the popcorn munching. "Yours?"

"I have a remote control, popcorn, hot chocolate from Crazy Shin Kicking Girl Number One, and I'm not outside in the insane weather. I'm doing well," Valentine stated with a satisfied nod. "Have you seen that rain out there? Nasty stuff."

"Weird Mask Guy Number Two!" Turtle greeted Nova brightly, particularly so to keep herself from being sad at the absense of Weird Mask Guy Number One. "Would you like some hot cocoa? It's a special, one-time offer that will probably neeee-ver happen again."

Nova was a bit surprised at the new nickname. Did he need to make one for Turtle now? He would work on it later in his notes perhaps. Right now he was willing to accept the special one time offer, such things being so rare.

He gave an affirmative nod.

Of course, it was only as Turtle set aside her own mug to scramble up and pour Nova one that she realized he'd have to move his hood a bit if he was going to drink it. This only made her more eager to offer it to him.

"Here ya go," she grinned as she handed him a mug and returned to her spot. And watched closely.

Teddy waved cheerfully at Nova. "Hey, Nova!"

Teddy paused as he passed by the common room, not sure he heard that right. "What the hell?"

Valentine clicked the channel again and the television announced that it was rather pleased with the hyena's pseudo weiner with a bouncy jingle and the exclamation that it was 'lovin' it.'
"Did you know that if you time your channel-changing just so, the television opens up a whole new world of entertainment possibilities?" He grinned back at Teddy.

Laughing and shaking his head, Teddy entered the room. "No, I can't say that I have."

As another person stopped by, Turtle leaned back as if to inspect the quantity of hot cocoa left, and she figured there was enough. "Hey, Teddy. Free hot cocoa. Once in a lifetime, monsoon-making-Turtle-crazy offer. But I'm sick of getting up, so you've got to get it yourself."

As if he could say no to free food or drinks. Teddy poured himself a cup and settled down next to Turtle. "Mmm, definitely good on a dreary day like this."

"What's up with you?" He asked, taking a sip of the cocoa.
