Dorm Hallways - Monday after lunch

Annette was crawling up and down the dorm hallways, very slowly, and pouting and mumbling to herself as she went.

"Stupid magnifying glass doesn't work." She banged it on the floor a couple times and continued on.

She sniffed and pushed her hair back out of her face. "Stupid fish throwing fishman!"

Her knees were getting sore so she hurried back to her room and put on her kneepads, then resumed her search in the halls. On her hands and knees. She was also tired of holding the magnifying glass so she strapped it onto her forehead so the glass hung at a mild slant over her left eye.

"If I don't find it, I'm going to hunt down that stinky fish thing and shoot him in his internal gonads. Yes I am."

Shuffle. Shuffle.

"Dammit."

"How'd you manage to lose it?" Shawn asked, crouching down beside her and running his hands over the carpet. That seemed a reasonable way to check for small objects.

Shawn looked at her and shook his head. "You seem to be working the magnifying glass angle pretty well," he said with a quick grin. "I can work well enough this way."

"My entire room smells of fish now," Shawn grumbled as he patted the carpet. "Shouldn't have opened the window. Next time the whole place floods I'm sealing up my room, possibly with Ed inside so long as it keeps the fishy smell out."

Shawn leaned over taking a delicate sniff. Well, delicate for a guy, anyway. "You do not smell of fish," he confirmed cheerfully.

"I guess considering the amount of water, fish was the most abundant ammo?" Shawn shrugged. "Wouldn't've been my first choice either, but I guess it did the job they wanted it to do."

"Decided they weren't for me," Shawn said with a shake of his head. "Never been a big fan of the water, and I figured I did my bit for the week, in Fandom vs. the aliens."

Shawn thought for a moment, there was those two years of his life, but he's pretty sure that isn't what she's talking about... "Uh, yeah, I guess I probably have," he replied in the end.

"You know you should really find yourself a better magnifying glass in town," he remarked, scanning the carpet.

"... I turned into a girl on Friday," Shawn said after a moment. That memory in itself was something that actually inspired him to look for rum.

"Also humiliating," Shawn pointed out. "I think I was kinda cute, though. Nothing much like me, which I think is a good thing."

"Gotta say, I don't know Dick," Shawn said with a chuckle. "And Summer, she doesn't know about it yet. Unless she listens to the radio, or someone else told her or something." Shawn made an uncomfortable face, "I probably should've told her about that..."

"No," Shawn said, a quick shake of his head. "Humiliation of the plain 'Hell, I'm a girl' variety and not much else. Still, think I ought to find her and mention it. I've been all water-avoidance-recluse this weekend," he admitted.

"I had nothing to do with girlkissy of any variety," Shawn said quickly. He really didn't, and just wanted to be sure that was known. "And, if I had, it would've been an only maybe with her kind of a deal," he added.

"It's our six month mark on Saturday," he said, grinning at Annette.

Shawn might've also looked a little confused at that. He raised a questioning eyebrow at her, but didn't comment.

He perked up just a little more at the rest of her words. "I asked her out right near the beginning of the fall semester, and she apparently hasn't gotten bored yet." Shawn's grin suggests this really is a good thing.
