Dorm Hallways - Monday after lunch
Annette was crawling up and down the dorm hallways, very slowly, and pouting and mumbling to herself as she went.
"Stupid magnifying glass doesn't work." She banged it on the floor a couple times and continued on.
She sniffed and pushed her hair back out of her face. "Stupid fish throwing fishman!"
Her knees were getting sore so she hurried back to her room and put on her kneepads, then resumed her search in the halls. On her hands and knees. She was also tired of holding the magnifying glass so she strapped it onto her forehead so the glass hung at a mild slant over her left eye.
"If I don't find it, I'm going to hunt down that stinky fish thing and shoot him in his internal gonads. Yes I am."
Shuffle. Shuffle.
"Dammit."

"I lost the matching one yesterday afternoon."

"You're going to help me, Shawn? That is so sweet. Want to borrow my magnifying glass?"

"My entire room smells of fish now," Shawn grumbled as he patted the carpet. "Shouldn't have opened the window. Next time the whole place floods I'm sealing up my room, possibly with Ed inside so long as it keeps the fishy smell out."

She continued to search the carpet and thought of something, she cast Shawn a sideways glance, "I don't, um, smell like fish do I?"

"This magnifying glass is broken. And it's hurting my eye I think. It was cheap, that's why. Stupid thing." But she didn't take it off, she continued to search the floor with her splayed hands.
"You ever lost something Shawn and never got it back again?"
no subject
"You know you should really find yourself a better magnifying glass in town," he remarked, scanning the carpet.

"So, anything new with you?" Hey, she had to talk about something else than her diamond. It was about to drive her crazy and if she went crazy she would drink the rest of the rum that was hidden under her bed. Yes, she would.

"It's our six month mark on Saturday," he said, grinning at Annette.

But it was masked instantly by his humble declaration. Annette clapped her hands and grinned. "Ohh, that is so nice, Shawn! Six months. Wow. That seems like a long time to me." Who's never had a boyfriend ever really in my whole life!

He perked up just a little more at the rest of her words. "I asked her out right near the beginning of the fall semester, and she apparently hasn't gotten bored yet." Shawn's grin suggests this really is a good thing.
