School grounds, Friday (before the field trip)

They had talked about it. They had done a bit of possibly-less-than-platonic practising for it. But now, after massive downpours and genderswapping bad vibes and boosted by the happy presence of penguins, they were actually doing it.

Jude and Blair were standing in front of the dorms, holding aloft their large yet simple signs:

'FREE HUGS'

"Dude. It's just a hug."

"How do I know that you'll be able to keep yourself from groping my, admittedly, hot bod?"

"'Cause I have a girlfriend?"

"You do?" Deadpool asked. "But what about all that rampant sexual tension in the car?"

"Huh? What - there was no tension!"

"You never noticed the UST?"

"I used to date Chad and Chad used to date Ranma and Ranma's dating my ex-girlfriend and I'm dating Rikku!" Jude gulped in a rapid-fire kind-of explanation.

Deadpool stared. And then he loomed.

"So you're the one dating my minion?"

Jude shrunk back. "Yes?"

"I hop that you're aware of what will happen if you ever hurt her," Deadpool informed him. "I have a very large collection of knives and guns and know how to hide a body."

Rikku was hoping to get a picture of Deadpool hugging Jude, because that would be way awesome. But it looked like that wasn't going to happen.

In fact, it looked like Deadpool was ... uh ... possibly threatening to eat Jude's face, and ...

She cursed under her breath. And dashed forward.

"Hey! Hi! No hugging going on here?" She looked at both of them as innocently as possible.

"Rikku!"

Jude didn't use his girlfriend as cover. Really.

It might have been a bit disturbing just how quickly he could go from homicidal to happy bouncy beaming over his minion.

"Rikku! I was just talking with Jude here and he says that you two are an i~tem."

"He did?!" Rikku's eyes widened a bit, but she hoped her smile didn't waver. Much. "That's ... great! And you were just telling him he, uh, he had great taste?"

Deadpool put an arm over Jude's should, somewhere in between a friendly gesture and choke hold.

"Oh, you know us Canadians. Get us talking about socialized health care and we just can't seem to stop." More choke hold now. "Isn't that right lil' buddy?"

"You're Canadian?" Jude almost choked. "I mean, uh, yeah, right, totally."

His eyes screamed 'help'.

"Hey!" Rikku shouted, pointing angrily at Deadpool. "No killing Jude! It says free hugs, not free lung-ripping-outs!"

Oh, man, she hoped she didn't give Deadpool any ideas with that.

"I never said anything about killing!" Deadpool protested, raising his hands up in front of him in surrender. "Though now that you mention the lung-ripping..."

Jude tried to sidle behind Rikku. Jude was unconcerned about his manliness and was quite used to his girlfriends saving his scrawny ass.

Rikku put both hands on her hips and faced Deadpool. "No lung-ripping! His lungs stay inside his body, okay!? No maiming, no clotheslining, no stabbing, no nothing!"

She edged a bit in front of Jude. She liked Jude in one piece, and hoped he was going to stay that way.

Deadpool made a kicked puppy face. "Not even a little?"

"No! Not even a little!" Jude yelped.

Okay, the kicked puppy face was sort of funny, but Rikku was trying very hard not to laugh, or Jude might think she was laughing at him. So.

"You can be nice, right? He's nice, and I like him, and he's not whatever-ing my honor, and - honestly!" She made an indignant noise.

"Fine," He said petulantly. "But if he breaks your heart, I'll make sure he ends up with Jimmy Hoffa."
