Fifth floor common room, Sunday evening

Walter sprawled on the couch with a large plate of nachos and a bottle of fizzy lemonade while he watched a documentary about penguins that left him very nostalgic for CJ Cregg.

Given he was a touch sore from his spar with Tyler the day before, he wasn't moving around quite as much as usual, settling for couch potato'ing for a change.

Nadia had spent most of her day lying about and being hung over. By evening, she was feeling more human and decided to be a bit social before she went to do her radio broadcast.

"Hey." Walter set the plate of nachos aside and sat up. "How are you doing today?"

"No longer hungover, and therefore . . . okay. Parker said it definitely sounded like a spell."

"On both of you, or just on you," Walter asked. He wasn't sure if he wanted a reason to let Chad off the hook or not.

"Just me, since Chad didn't go to rescue Bel." Nadia shrugged. "Like I said, I can't help Chad. Even if it is kind of my fault that he's probably really unhappy right now."

So, Chad was an ass... although not so much of an ass that he just jumped at Nadia when she made her offer....

Still. An ass. Teddy was more deserving of sympathy than Chad.

"He's big enough to have pushed you out the door. He's not innocent."

"Yeah," Nadia said vaguely. "I know. I still feel bad, though."

"Yeah..." Walter patted the couch next to him. "If you grab some of your hot sauce, I have nachos you can share. We can think about other things."

Nadia nodded, grabbed her hot sauce of choice for the evening and flopped down next to him.

"So. Who'd you beat up?"

Pippi flounced out to the common room after setting up her new bed.

"Hi!"

She stuck her head into the pantry to see what she could cook for dinner.

"Hey." Walter waved at her and sat up to see what she was doing. "What happened to your bed? I noticed it was a bit...."

"Broken?" Pippi said pulling some ingredients out of the pantry.

"Some joker thought it would be funny to tape me to it."

"It wasn't me," Walter offered immediately. "If it had been, I would have stuck around to enjoy it."

Pippi stuck her tongue out at him.

"Whoever did do it wasn't inclined to stick around to gather the fruits of their labor." she said. "Jamie walked in and said we needed to come up with a signal for such things... And then left. I don't know what we should do to signal 'Hey, I've been taped to a piece of furniture and I'd like some help please.'"

"Do we need a list of emergency notes that Mr. Neilson can give to people just lined up by the door?"

He leaned over the back of the couch. "We can label them with different fruit. 'Mr Neilson, give Walter the melon note.'"

Pippi giggled a bit.

"If he'd been around I coulda got him to help me, but he was strangely absent."

"We'll have to teach Pup or Furrball, then," Walter said after a moment's thought. "Do you think Mr. Neilson did it?"

Pippi thought about that.

"I dunno he'd have the patience to use a whole roll of gaffer's tape..."

"Hey, Pippi. Your bed's broken, by the way,"

"Not any more." She said starting to peel some potatoes. "I got a new one."

"Oh. Cool. Do I want to know why it was broken in the first place?"

"I got taped to the bed while I was napping. I got tired of waiting for somebody to help me up and the bed gave before the tape did."

". . . what kind of tape?" It was a better response than "kinky," which was what her first thought was. . . .

"Gaffer's." Pippi answered. "Strong but not stinky."

"Gotta love that gaffers. . . ."
