The Roof; Sunday Night.

Setsuna knew she should probably get some sleep; it was late, and she had her DAMM class and work tomorrow, but she was feeling rather restless. Like there was too much in her head, but none of it would really manifest into anything real and tangible. She felt like she was in a rather odd spot in her life...she actually had a few choices in front of her and she wasn't even close to be sure how to respond to any of them...

So she sat on the roof, looking out over the island, trying to ~~emo~~ think it all out...

Setsuna's eyes widened a little bit as her brain tried to sort out all the things that had happened into a neat little timeline. Between invasions, classes, drama back home, drama here, two boyfriends, more kisses than she'd admit to, even more awkward moments, numerous scars, finally admitting (to herself anyway) some of the truths about her sexuality, discovering about actual se...

Definately wide eyes and now blushing. "Y...yeah, it has..."

"Well, I wouldn't take back any of it," Alphonse decided with an accompanying nod. "I'm glad. And, hopefully... we'll have even more time ahead of us, here."

Setsuna's feet in front of her shifted a little nervously at that, that little pause that seemed to emphasise the here part of his statement. "Alphonse?" she asked of him, but still looked at her toes. "...Can I...tell you something that I...haven't told anyone yet?"

It was a stupid question; she knew she could. But asking like that was her way of letting him know that this was one of those things that she seemed to just be comfortable talking to only him about...

Alphonse averted his eyes sideways toward Setsuna, finally looking away from the view of the town below. It was dark, which made it hard to read her face, but Alphonse made another slow nod. "You can," he assured.

"Part of me has really been considering going back home at the end of the semester," Setsuna admitted, quietly, drawing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms tightly around them.

Alphonse fell silent, lowering his gaze to the floor, and eventually back out towards where it initially was. He felt a sudden sense of dread, perhaps wishing just a little bit that he never bothered to inquire in the first place. He really wasn't sure how to respond to that-- even if it was to ask why, because he already knew what the most likely reason was. "Ah," Alphonse began, in the same quiet tone. "Because... of Konoka, right? Your duties, and such, back home."

Setsuna nodded. "Y...yeah, that's...most of it. Some of it, though, is...me wondering if maybe I've just gotten too involved here...."

"Too involved?" Alphonse asked; he was confused what she had meant by that.

"I've made...a lot of friends here, Alphonse, and gotten involved in a lot of...complex relationships that, really, when you get right down to the meat of it, a person like me can't afford to have....Not like I'd take it back for anything, of course, but, well...playing at this whole normal teenager thing was nice, but I wonder if maybe it's now to go back to my previous reality that didn't include such things..."

"Setsuna, you..." Alphonse had trailed off, as he found himself speaking before he thought of what exactly to say. He sighed, letting out not just a breath, but the part of that statement that sounded like it was about to debate that all. "... I see," is what he replied with instead. "If... you feel that's what's best."

Setsuna frowned deeply, worriedly, at that. That was it? Just...if you feel that's what's best? It was hard to ignore what felt like a small stab in her chest. Was Alphonse just saying that because he thought that's what she wanted to hear? Or because that's what he really felt? Then again, when had he ever just said anything because it seemed like what she wanted to hear.

"You know that I have trouble discerning what's best for me, Alphonse," she said after a long moment. "I'm used to people telling me that..."

"I don't know what would be," Alphonse admitted, timidly, almost as if he were afraid of doing so. "I can't be selfish and insist that you not go." He crossed his arms over his knees now, burying his chin into them. "Sometimes, we don't know what choices we should pick, but... then, you have to listen to what your mind and heart say, and do the best you can with what you chose."

Her own head on her knees as well, Setsuna tilted it as she looked over at Alphonse. "You'd...want to insist that I not go?" she asked, both wanting to make sure she heard that right and worried that she'd interpreted it incorrectly.

"You're one of my closest friends," Alphonse said. "Of course I wouldn't want you to go."

Setsuna was quiet for a long moment after that; she supposed it was rather silly of her to think that other people might not be effected by it, like Alphonse, Ranma, Jude, Ami....no one seemed too effected when she left Japan, so, on the other hand, she didn't really imagine it would be any different here...

She let out a long breath. "I'm so conflicted on so many things right now, Alphonse. I feel like there are a lot of changes for me coming up, and I don't know if I'm ready for them..."

"Don't worry," Alphonse said, encouragingly, with a small smile to emphasize that. "I mean... I wouldn't want you to go, but if there's more important things you need to do..."

The problem was that Setsuna wasn't sure if it was more important. Not right now, anyway. And with starting the new jobs and maybe, hopefully, learning something about her nature from Lucifer.... "Y..yeah," she said softly. "I..I'm sure that, when the time comes, I'll know which way I need to go..."

"Right," Alphonse replied. "Just don't force yourself to do something you don't want to... Regardless of what I think, I want you to be happy with whatever you decide to do."

And therein lied the problem. Setsuna was really happy here...but she was happy in Japan, too. She sighed. "Think we could maybe talk about something else right a little less...disheartening, for a bit?" she offered.

With another slow nod, Alphonse softly agreed; "Okay." He didn't want to think about Setsuna leaving-- especially it being so soon-- so he thought, perhaps something else in the meantime would be better.

Admittedly, he wasn't entirely too sure of what else, with that being stuck on his mind. He at least made an attempt to; "I guess we didn't really get the chance to really say much on Saturday," he started, hoping that would spark something new.

"No, I suppose not," Setsuna responded. "How did the rest of your shift go?"

"It went," he replied simply. "It's usually not very busy, there, at least when I'm working. Lots of free time."

"It was relatively slow at the Nest, too..." And then a thought struck her. "Oh! Alphonse! You wouldn't happen to know if Cally's back to speaking yet, would you? She came in, without a voice. I was really worried at first, after what happened this summer, but she seemed generally okay with it, like it would pass without too much a problem..."

Alphonse raised his eyebrows. "Cally? No, actually, I haven't seen her in... a while, come to think of it. Do you know what happened?"

"She's just gotten back from basic training, apparantly, and I believe she said it was a spell? Most of her attention was focused on Mac, though, because she's miss--" Setsuna cut herself off with a blink. "Wow, I'm really not doing too well on this 'let's talk about something less worrisome' thing..."
