Ami sat on the roof being emo, reading her new book. Oh look, global warming. Oh look Nazis. Oh look the Crusades. Human-made disasters were fun. That's it. Fun.

John came out on the roof to get some perspective.

John leaned over the edge, leaving Ami alone since she didn't notice him.

Eventually, at the end of the chapter, ami notices another person up here. "Hey" she says, a bit sadly. And hopes he also had not heard the radio.

"Yo! What's wrong? Ya look bummed."

"I'm... ok?" Ami did nto sound really that sure

"You don't sound okay. Too many cookies?"

"Too many Italian candies. Did you know theyhave alcohol in them?"

"I--no, really? Cool!"

"No. Not. cool."

"Not cool? What's not cool about italian chocolates?"

"They get you drunk and make you do stupid stuff."

"Oh. LIke, shave your head and run around pantsless?" John checks her head. Nope, still hair'd.

"Yes. Except entirely worse"

"That's not good. You shouldn't be pantsless. In public, anyways. Pantsless at your own place? Definitely get behind that. End the tyranny of pants!"

Ami looked at him like he was insane.

He grinned like an idiot at her. "Sorry, just wanting shorts weather back. Permanently."

He crouches down next to her. "So what's on your mind?"

"Setsuna."

"Werechicken? Yeah, ever since she's been doing that thing, I've been thinking about her. Usually late at night, when I'm practicing, trying to get the right grip on it. She said it'd take practice, and that I wasn't doing it wrong, but, I still... dunno. Sometimes I can touch it wtihout a probelm, and the other times I get too nervous and lose focus."

Again, Ami repeated the 'are you nuts?' look.

"Sorry. I kinda came up here to get some privacy and some space, since my room's a bit cramped to do it, and it seemed like a good idea. Didn't think I'd have an audience, though. Can't really perform under pressure like that," he said with a smile.

"I could go away if you want."

"Naw. You were here first. And just because I want to touch it is no reason to drive you away," he said. He turns to look at her. "You do not look happy. WHo do I have to beat up?"
