Buffy got to the campgrounds early, hauling two huge bags with her. She put them down by the stones of the central camp fire. She looked at it. Firewood. She needed lots of it. She headed off to gather fallen branches and similar.

Slowly everything got set up. There were camping tables with plates, cups and sticks for grilling things with. There were tables with hot dogs, peeps and other grillable things, and a separate table for drinks (so far non-alcoholic).

She set her cd-player on a flat rock, and while it looked tiny and insignificant outdoors, it would at least have music. Hopefully the random showers would stop by night fall, she thought and covered everything with plastic.

Then she walked back to the school and grabbed every umbrella and blanket she could get her hands on, and walked back, dumping everything by one of the tables. With her hands on her hips she regarded everything in satisfaction. Yes. Totally Not Prom was on!

As Sokka and Evie arrived, Sokka was laughing happily and smiling at her.

Thanks to a ~~handwavey~~ ~~NOT last-minute, why would you say that?~~ trip to Stuff For Sale this afternoon, he was dressed in a dapper blue silk button-down shirt and black slacks.

"Wow," he said surveying the campfire and things. "Looks like this is going to be fun."

"I do love campfires," Evie said, swinging her hand in his, and restraining a bounce. She'd bitten the bullet and found a pair of jeans and a blue peasant blouse, so for once, she looked *almost* like the other girls. "Can we just dance whenever we want to, do you think? We don't have to wait?"

"I think so..." Sokka hazarded. It didn't look like a very "formal" sort of party. "C'mon!" He smiled and headed over to the CD player excitedly, half-dragging her.

Evie was getting used to this; the trick was to let your arm go limp as you ran to catch up.

"Yay, music!"

Katara grinned at Sokka when she saw him and then raised an eyebrow at Evie, looking evil for half a second.

Sokka waved at his sister happily. When she glared at Evie, he glared back, trying to convey "Don't you dare be mean to her and/or ruin my night" through a complicated series of faces and eyebrow waggles.

Evie, blissfully oblivious to all this, caught Sokka in mid-eyebrow-waggle, and frowned. "Are you okay? DO you need something to drink?"

Katara wrinkled her nose at Sokka and rolled her eyes in a way that would indicate she wasn't planning on being mean to Evie. Then she gave him a covert thumbs up.

"Nah, just glaring at my sister," Sokka answered Evie cheerfully. "If she freezes you to a wall, let me know, okay?"

He gave Katara a nod, and one last glare for good measure.

"Eeeee." Evie stifled herself. "I mean. Of course! Not a problem!" She waved uncertainly to Katara. "Is she really likely to do that?" she asked under her breath.

"She'd better not," Sokka said. He'd definitely given her enough glares just now. "I mean, she probably won't -- she's nice and everything -- but you know how sisters are."

"Well, no, but I know how brothers are," and in light of that, she really *does* understand Katara quite well. "So I think it will be all right if we just have a nice chat over tea sometime."

"Tea is good," Sokka confirms. "We like tea."

Heartened by this, Evie waved back at Katara, and tried to remember if she had any Oolong at home. Oh, and sugar! And lemon slices!
