Buffy got to the campgrounds early, hauling two huge bags with her. She put them down by the stones of the central camp fire. She looked at it. Firewood. She needed lots of it. She headed off to gather fallen branches and similar.

Slowly everything got set up. There were camping tables with plates, cups and sticks for grilling things with. There were tables with hot dogs, peeps and other grillable things, and a separate table for drinks (so far non-alcoholic).

She set her cd-player on a flat rock, and while it looked tiny and insignificant outdoors, it would at least have music. Hopefully the random showers would stop by night fall, she thought and covered everything with plastic.

Then she walked back to the school and grabbed every umbrella and blanket she could get her hands on, and walked back, dumping everything by one of the tables. With her hands on her hips she regarded everything in satisfaction. Yes. Totally Not Prom was on!

"Nooothing," Turtle said idly. "Jus' grilling a Peep a little. Buffy suggested it. Pretty good, just gotta watch it so that they don't melt too much."

She moved her current Peep-on-a-stick toward Tannim's face. Perhaps a little too close. "Wanna try?"

Tannim stepped back in time to dodge the hot marshmellow mess. A bit of goo threatened to drip off the stick, and Tannim stuck out his finger to catch it. He stuck his finger in his mouth. "Oh, that's good," he said. "I should make one." He found a stick and a Peep and started grilling his own.

Turtle smiled a little nervously as she pulled hers back a bit to blow on it and cool it down before having a bite, carefully watching it as if daring it to drip any more. If Tannim hadn't caught it, it would have been wasted. And you couldn't have wasted melty gooey Peeps.

Tannim toasted his Peep, trying to think of something cool to say to Turtle and failing utterly. "How're your classes?" he asked finally.

"Lame," Turtle responded with a sigh. "But they're classes, so what can you expect? How 'bout yours?"

"They're okay," Tannim said. "This semester's gone fast."

"Yeah, it has," Turtle said, a little bug-eyed as she realized that it was almost over as she munched on her Peep and got a little bit on herself in the process. What? They were sticky when they were all melty from the fire. "Think you'll stay for the summer camp thing they do?"

"Probably," Tannim said. He checked his Peep and decided it was cooked. "How about you?" he asked, pulling the gooey mess off the stick.

"I hope so," Turtle mused. "Summer here will probably be a heck of a lot more exciting than summer back in Wisconsin."

"Yeah, probably a lot less invasions by ancient gods in Wisconsin," Tannim said.
