5th floor Common room, Saturday morning

River sat perched on the couch. Not only wasn't Simon around, there was also a lack of kitchen staff to make her breakfast. She'd had to improvise, which had resulted in cookies and ice cream. That wasn't too bad although perhaps a little low on nutritional value and high on sugar.

There was also a lack of books, which bothered her even more. The art books were interesting, and her roommates fashion magazines did give her some insight into cultural values, but overall, River was bored. And also, why did she have a roommate? Her parents could afford to give her a single room. Not that she minded the other girl - and she'd been asleep - but other girls usually minded her. And boys. Most kida her age did, in fact.

She had pulled out her notebook and was scribbling something resembling a plan for the day.

Nadia waved back. "I bet there's some cereals somewhere,"

"I gave the last of the ice cream to Blair," River informed her.

Nadia rummaged through the cabinets. "That's okay, I want cereals, not ice creams." She found a box of chocolate frosted sugar bombs. "I can make you a bowl, if you want,"

That did look nice, actually. "Yes, please," River said.

"Okay!" Nadia went and got another giant bowl and filled it with cereal and milk. "It's very yummy. Ex-specially with hot sauce."

River smiled. "You have hot sauce?"

"Uh huh! I always keep some in my room."

"In you room? Not here?" That was impractical as the cereal was here.

"If I keep it in my room then I can bring it here when I wanna make empanoodles, and I know no one will eat it all up unless I say they can."

River carefully tasted the cereal. "So I can't try it with hot sauce?"

"If you want to, I can go get it. My room isn't very far away."

It seemed a bit rude to ask Nadia to run and get it, so River just said: "Will try it some other time." The cereals were quite tasty as they were.

"Okay. Do you wanna play, later?"

River nodded, smiling. "Yes. Need to find some books first."

Nadia made a face. "What for?"

River blinked. "Reading."

"Playing is way more fun."

River frowned. "No. And reading can inspire playing."
